By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}

As a child I enjoyed his work on McHale's Navy, and grew up enjoying his work. Also, he was a  Christian (Catholic). He used clean comedy. Probably my favorite skit was on Carol Barnett  where the setting was this expensive jewel in a museum. The guard explained all the fancy high tech that protected the jewel ending with if need be explosion or something like that.Well the museum closes the security is turned on and the music "Pink Panther" theme plays as Tim comes down from the ceiling as a cat burglar trying to get around all the security with very hilarious results. Finally he is dangling just ready to grab the jewel and escape before the explosion or what ever it was could happen when another thief simply comes in from the side door walks up to  the gem and grabs it just out of Tim's grasp triggering all the high tech protection but getting away before it goes off leaving Tim's burglar dangling from the ceiling the victim of all the high tech security....

A couple of months ago I read a very inspiring story about him and his faith. He grew up in a religious home and community where church was just a part of life. One summer he was at a fair and there was a ring toss. One of the prizes was a glow in the dark crucifix. He thought that it looked really cool and he tried and tried to get it but spent all his money and did not get it.

He left to go home feeling sad, but while walking he came across a coin on the ground, and what he found was just what each ring cost so he picked up the coin went to the ring toss and got one ring and threw at the glow in the dark crucifix. Sure enough this time the ring went right around it and he brought home the prize. As he grew up and would face the challenges of life and not just as simple as his religious home and community and temptations of Hollywood, the story of the prize (which he kept all his life) would encourage him. He saw the not being able to win it with his money but finding the coin and winning it with that particular coin meant that God was telling him that he existed and that Tim should always trust in God no matter what.
