On September 16, 2019, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that a Phoenix city ordinance cannot require a business to create same-sex wedding invitations in violation of their sincerely held religious beliefs.

We need to understand exactly what this decision means.

The ruling of the court was to the effect that a person could not be required to author a message  that the person did not believe.  The is a correct ruling under the idea that each of us has the freedom to speak what we believe.

That ruling did not address the issue as to whether or not a printer could refuse to print a wedding invitation that had been authored by someone else.  This is a different issue which has not been clearly decided by the courts.
