Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 24, 2020 Moderators Posted December 24, 2020 Military officers from North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) are expecting a visit from a special aviator. The combined military command will work with Canadian partners to monitor Santa’s journey across the globe on Christmas Eve – just like it’s done for the past 65 years. Every other day of the year, NORAD uses satellites and sensors to monitor threats against North America. Capt. Jim Carman, USN (Ret), MOAA’s Vice President for Council/Chapter and Member Support and a retired Navy reconnaissance pilot, spoke with Col. John Krellner, USAF, a stealth fighter jet pilot, about supporting NORAD’s Santa-tracking mission from Alaska. The NORAD team feeds its data from satellites onto a website, making it easy for families at home to follow Santa’s journey.
