According to dictionary.com Spin: To provide an interpretation of (a statement or event, for example), especially in a way meant to sway public opinion: “a messenger who spins bogus research into a vile theology of hatred” Contrast this with straight-talk, which is providing information about an event in a manner which allows the public to evaluate all sides and form an opinion themselves. Niether Rush Limbaugh or David Brock are sources of straight-talk although they can be used to balance each other's side out. So in proving something is "spin" one need not prove what is being said isn't true. The only thing that needs to be proven is that what is being said isn't fair to both sides. What that tells me is that they (the fellow member) is not trying to spin anyone, but simply trying to provide an alternative prespective. I appreciate that. Terrorism is not the new phenomenon in the UK as it is here. M15 is used to homegrown terrorism in the form of the IRA. Of course there obvious differences between its current manifestion and the IRA's activities. America will I am sure discover that there will be sucesses but also painful failures. My guess is that the failures will cure american politicians and media of the meaningless hype and political posturing that surround these issues.
