When people lack critical thinking they allow for far too much media manipulation. Take for example this quote from the above mentioned article.

"When people note the decline in morale during his reign, Elder Wilson has occasionally referenced Ellen White’s concept of the eschatological “shaking” of members out of the church. It seems to Aunty that maybe some of the leaders are themselves, perhaps unintentionally, shaking members out by their stubborn unwillingness to lead the church into needed changes."

The link is to an Ellen White quote not to a reference that Ted Wilson made after people note the decline in morale during his reign. That is just put in there it could be as easily "when people note the higher divorce rate" or anything else. People like Wilson likely use the shaking a whole lot in their sermons and speeches. I left the Adventist church more over people like Aunty then Wilson, at least with him I know he has theological reasons for his position rather then political positions that define their theology.
