Religious liberty can be attacked from unexpected sources.  In 1922, the state of Oregon enacted a law that required all school age children to attend public education.  This law was based on a desire to outlaw Roman Catholic schools.  This story is told in part by the URL below.   This Oregon law was overturned by the Supreme Court.

Some legal pundits believe that the proposed draft Supreme Court decision related to Roe v. Wade would establish a basis of law that would have prevented the Supreme Court from ruling as it did on the 1922 Oregon law.
