Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted May 5, 2022 Moderators Share Posted May 5, 2022 In this forum, abortion is a closed subject that we do not allow to be discussed. This situation has come about due to the fact that people were not able to discuss it in an appropriate manner.. I am posting a reference to an important article related to abortion and the SDA Chruch. It addresses some of the accusations that have been made in the past with helpful information. Do not consider this to be an opening of this forum to a free-wheeling discussion of this subject. If the discussion in this thread becomes inappropriate, the thread will be locked. In the interests of Adventist history, the following article is a recent reprint of a 2019 article on the history of abortion within the SDA Church. It is not going to either change or resolve theological issues that you may have with abortion. But, its story of such history is informative. https://spectrummagazine.org/views/2022/adventists-abortion-and-principled-integrity phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
Members phkrause
Excellent article!! Thanks for sharing! Quote phkrause By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}
RonCorson
When I first saw the heading I thought it was about the recent article on Adventist Today where the author thinks that abortion is a contraceptive as she says: "But abortion isn’t about killing a baby, it’s about preventing a baby. It’s about preventing a child being born who isn’t wanted. " https://atoday.org/every-child-born-should-be-a-wanted-child/ Probably one of the more amazing things I have seen on Adventist Today! bonnie
Doesn"t the word prevention mean to "prevent" something from happening? Not intervention to pretend it never happened? Novel idea Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. RonCorson
It is amazing to see how the Democrat leaders distort the polls. For example you hear this: "Jen Psaki pointed on Sunday to Fox News' own polling to dismiss concerns from Americans who are in favor of overturning Roe v. Wade and lauded the two-thirds majority for uniting in favor of abortion rights." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/Psaki-dismisses-prolifers-Two-thirds-of-public-dont-agree-on-much/ar-AAX353Y When in fact as Pew shows: "When asked about the legality of abortion at 24 weeks of pregnancy (described as a point when a healthy fetus could survive outside the woman’s body, with medical attention), Americans are about twice as likely to say abortion should be illegal as to say it should be legal at this time point (43% vs. 22%), with 18% saying “it depends.” " So the Democrats just lost their bill vote which went way beyond what Roe v Wade said: "The Women’s Health Protection Act would create a statutory right to the procedure up until the point of viability, considered to be at the 24-week mark, and beyond that point, if the provider, using “good-faith medical judgment,” determines that the procedure is necessary “for the preservation of the life or health of the person who is pregnant.” Anti-abortion rights advocates, therefore, have dubbed the bill the Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act." https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-america/community-family/heres-how-the-democratic-abortion-bill-would-go-far-beyond-roe That OK's late term abortions which are very strongly opposed by the vast majority of Americans. Schumer wanted the Senators to have the record of their votes on this Bill which was defeated this last February so, really did they not have a record of their votes from then? Anyway there is no way this Bill and their votes will look good for the Democrat candidates in the Mid term elections. But when you are in a party run by over the hill 80 year old's this must be the kind of decision making you get!
