Never saw a swastika or was aware of antisemitism in any way, shape, or form. Mickey Dora was someone we all looked up to. Never heard or saw anything connecting him to antisemitism. My Dad, who didn't talk much, once remarked to me about fighting bullies in Chicago who picked on his Jewish friends. Growing up in the foothills of L.A., a town that later became a haven for various outlaw biker clubs, antisemitism was something that never came up. Being a "surfer" or a "greaser" could lead to fisticuffs. Being Jewish did not. Of course, we did not have Hasidic type Jews in our community. Most were highly assimilated. His village was able to evacuate when Hamas launched its murderous assault last Saturday.
