Loving Your Wife

The Greek word used in Ephesians when Paul commands husbands to love their wives is the same word used for love in John 3:16.  It is also the same word used in Matthew 22:37 when Jesus commands us to love God,  This is not a love defined by an emotional feeling.  It is defined by principle.  It is something we do because of commitment.  Feelings come and go.  Commitment remains loyal.  This type of love is driven by a moral choice we make.  The opposite of love isn't so much hate as it is indifference. Paul tells husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church. So, to really be able to love one's wife, one must learn how Christ has, and continues, to love the church.
