Jesus wants you to have a gun. I can at least make the argument that He would want you to have one.

"Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." Luke 22,36

Back then the equivalent to a handgun would have been a sword - unlike a spear it can be concealed inside one's garments. Jesus didn't say to buy a spear, He said a sword.

 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

Notice he wasn't condemned for having it - the text says the reason Jesus told him to put it away was because what was going to happen to Jesus HAD TO HAPPEN, it was impossible for it not to happen, according to the Scriptures. This is something I've been hounding on since I joined this forum.

Jesus KNEW that, in accordance to the Scriptures that He would loose His life for the people and raise again on the 3rd day. 

"And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.” He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.  For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment.”  And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” And he said to them, “It is enough.”

That there is God Almighty approving of weapons. 

As for the part your missed. 

Not might save - it says WILL SAVE.

Matthew 1,21
And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name JESUS. For he SHALL SAVE his people from their sins.

Everything written about Christ absolutely HAD TO HAPPEN, this would include being born where He was born, what He would and WOULDN'T Do (as in fail).

Jesus called His own Disciples fools for not believing EVERTHING said about Him in the Sacred Scriptures had to happen. 

Luke 24,22
Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O fools, AND slow of heart to believe ALL that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

 

And close to another 100 explicit Scriptures from the Prophets that affirm Christ knew what had to happen - every single thing. Zero % chance of failure according to Jesus.
