While the AR-15 in particular gets most of the clamor for gun control, the reality is that the AR-15 represents a very small fraction of the total gun related violence in America today. However, this particular gun stands out as one to cherry pick as a first step to disarming the American public. The truth of the matter is that those wanting to establish a dictatorship in this country will need to disarm the public first or it could get very bloody before all is said and done. While gun deaths are tragic in this country, apparently truth has already fallen victim to political rhetoric. Handwringing can go on and on about gun violence even here on ClubAdventist, the truth is that more people are killed by knives and other cutting instruments than long guns. And "assault rifles" are a very small part of that. Four times as many people were killed with a knife than with ANY kind of rifle in 2019, the FBI revealed in its Uniform Crime Report released late last month. According to the UCR, 1,476 victims were murdered with “knives or cutting instruments,” whereas 364 people were killed with rifles, including the vague category of “assault rifles.” More victims were also murdered by blunt objects like clubs and hammers, which resulted in 397 homicides in 2019. https://americanmilitarynews.com/2020/10/fbi-4-times-more-people-killed-with-knives-than-rifles-in-2019/ What is even more "interesting" is that more people are killed without any physical weapon at all! FBI crime statistics show that 662 homicides in 2020 were committed with personal weapons, described as “hands, fists, feet, etc.” The statistics also show that 455 homicides were committed by rifles. "More people die from hands, fists, feet, than rifles. Guess we should ban limbs now…," reads the May 25 post.
