The Chosen Continues Filming

The Chosen made an appeal to SAG-AFTRA and SAG-AFTRA has granted the appeal.  Filming for Season 4 of The Chosen will resume on Monday.

SAG-AFTRA, the union representing some 160,000 actors, voted on Thursday to begin their strike at midnight Pacific Standard Time on Friday. The move will pause countless productions worldwide, including ones beloved by the Christian community. The vote by the SAG-AFTRA union was unanimous.

It’s the union’s first strike since 1980.

A point that may be lost on some people is that the exemptions being made for small, independent film makers are being made because those film makers have accepted the union terms that the big film makers say they cannot afford.  One is the residuals for the actors when movies and TV series go streaming.

The Chosen is not a non-profit ministry.  It is likely that the investors will receive a large return on investment as a TV series on the life of Christ is never going to get old.  It is like Christmas music from fifty years ago that continues to generate income even after the artist is dead.  The Chosen is complying with the union's demand and sharing the profits with the actors over the long haul.
