Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 8 Moderators Share Posted March 8 Labor Unions & the SDA Church is an issue that has resulted in some interesting doctrinal positions. Individual SDA members are allowed to join labor unions and to assume leadership positions in them. On an International basis, in some nations, probably the majority of SDA members are also members of a labor union. There are cases where a labor union has defended the right of a SDA member to refuse to work on the Sabbath. However, the SDA Church has taken the position that it has a religious right to refuse to bargain with a labor union. The situation at Loma Linda is an example of this.
