Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted March 10 Moderators Share Posted March 10 15,000,000,000 Miles: Some 46+ years ago Voyager I was launched to obtain information about Jupiter and Saturn. For those many years, it has faithfully been sending us information. It has traveled some 15,000,000,000 miles since launch. It takes 45 hours to send it a message and to receive a return message. Time is running out. It is now sending us "nonsense" messages. Scientists are attempting to identify and fix that problem. But, with the time it takes to transmit and with 36-year-old technology, the future does not look good.
