Members phkrause
Ethics blasts Data: Office of Congressional Ethics; Note: Data only includes first half of the 118th Congress; Chart: Axios Visuals The 118th Congress is on track for a record number of calls from concerned citizens to the Congressional Ethics Office, Axios' Stef Kight reports. The big picture: "Where there is a lot of media attention on ethics issues — such as the George Santos scandal — you'll get tons and tons of outreach to the OCE to take action," Kedric Payne, a former deputy chief counsel of the Office of Congressional Ethics, told Axios. Contacts to the Office of Congressional Ethics from the public do not necessarily translate to more action by the office or the committee. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) is the latest lawmaker to be faced with an investigation by the House Ethics Committee. Between the lines: The 115th Congress, for those curious, followed the 2016 elections. Quote phkrause By the decree enforcing the institution of the papacy in violation of the law of God, our nation will disconnect herself fully from righteousness. When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near. {5T 451.1}
