Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 8 Moderators Posted July 8 July 8, 2024 In 1983, I spent 33 days on the Island of Grenada. As such, I have a perception of the country, island and the work of the SDA church in Grenada. I have to believe that the SDA Church has suffered severe, major, damage from Hurricane Beryl. I am unable to obtain information as to what has happened. The following link takes you to an article that is clearly out of date. It can only hint, in my thinking, as to the real damage that has been done. As I learn more, I will update the information. https://interamerica.org/2024/07/adventist-church-begins-assessing-damage-in-the-aftermath-of-hurricane-beryl/ phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 9 Author Moderators Posted July 9 July 9, 2024 Reports are beginning to trickle in related to the damage that Hurricane Beryl caused to Grenada. The following links to one fo those reports. https://interamerica.org/2024/07/adventist-church-begins-assessing-damage-in-the-aftermath-of-hurricane-beryl/ The Grenada Conference has about 14,000 members. The nation of Grenada consists of 20 some islands. The majority of the people live on the main island of Grenada. A few thousand live on two other islands and the remaining islands may either only have one family living on them, or they may not be populated. It would seem that the SDA property on Carriacou and Petite Martinique has undergone major destruction. As to the damage on the main island of Grenada, I am uncertain. HOTe: I will continue to attempt to keep you informed in this thread. NOTE: I do not have information as to damage to SDA property by Hurricane Beryl, in either TExas or other parts of the U. S. phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 14 Author Moderators Posted July 14 Members Posted 10 minutes ago Seventh-day Adventist Church leaders are still assessing the needs of those affected by Hurricane Beryl, a categry four storm that ripped through a string of islands in the Caribbean on June 30 and July 1, 2024. The powerful hurricane claimed the lives of three people and caused power outages, triggered landslides, uprooted trees and damaged roads and bridges, stranding residents. https://adventist.news/news/adventist-church-begins-assessing-damage-in-the-aftermath-of-hurricane-beryl [NOTE: I have transfer ed this post by Phakrause to this location from another place where he posted it--Gregory Matthews.] phkrause 1 Quote Gregory
