Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted October 23, 2024 Author Moderators Posted October 23, 2024 It is important to understand that religious rights in the United States are not granted on the basis of the teachings of a religious denomination. Rather, they are granted on the basis of the beliefs of the individual. From this aspect, there may exist differences of opinion as to what should be done on t he Sabbath. The SDA Church allows for differences of opinion on this subject. In actual fact, the California Department of Corrections has people working as Correctional Officers who work on Saturdays. In addition, some SDAs work on Saturdays as police persons. This is due to the personal belief of those persons that such work is essential and therefore allowed on the Sabbath. Quote Gregory
