Who are the seven heads of Revelation 17?
JoeMo reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
"The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits" (Rev. 17:9). This sentence seems to be in present tense (at the time of John's revelation). This makes it seem that ALL of the "heads" (mountains) exist simultaneously, and the "woman" was sitting on those mountains - IN JOHN'S DAY. The papacy (sitting on the 7 hilled city of Rome) did not yet exist - in John's day. But the city of Jerusalem did exist, and it did sit on 7 hills. 7 hills of Jerusalem: hill #1: the northern summit - called Scopus hill #2: the middle summit - called Nob hill #3: the highest point of Olivet - called in Scripture "the Mount of Corruption" or "Mount of Offense" hill #4: the original "Mount Zion", on the middle ridge between the Kedron and the Tyropoeon Valleys hill #5: "Ophel Mount" hill #6: "the Rock" on which Fort Antonia was built, just to the north of Ophel Mount hill #7: the southwest hill itself that finally became known in the time of Simon the Hasmonean as the new "Mount Zion" YES - the later "Mount Zion" was NOT the original. The woman is called a "great harlot". Well - Israel was "married" to the LORD at Mt Sinai. The LORD called His covenant a marriage - to Israel, which is WHY idolatry was called adultery. Which is why he "divorced" the 10 northern tribes. Jerusalem is used in Scripture, to represent the whole nation. Jerusalem - the harlot that persecuted the saints and killed the prophets, SITS on SEVEN HILLS. Rev. 17:10 reads, "There are ALSO seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes he must continue a SHORT TIME." This - to me - reads like the "seven heads" and the "seven kings" are different entities. With the "kings", five ARE FALLEN - past tense. "One is" - present tense (in John's day), and one is yet to come - future tense. With the heads, they all seem to exist at the same time.1 point -

not too wise to use the race, religion, gender, or political party as one's basis on voting for the next POTUS, in my opinion. For me, it's going to be based on their work history (including voting record), issue statements history, how they treat other people (past and present), and statements on policies. It's not going to be based on promises they make, or what famous people might endorse them... Even with the above considerations, it's going to be difficult to choose which is the best of what I see are some of the worst candidates we've ever had...1 point -

So let me ask the question that seems to be ignored!! Can 2 men or 2 women pro-create?? Did not God give us an example at creation of marriage????? And than what did he ask them to do??? Just because heterosexuals have problems with there marriages has nothing to do with what God instituted at creation!! We as humans messed that up!!1 point -

How and when does Satan personate Christ?

I found this on http://www.learnhebrew.org.il/print/2006/march3.htm Neshimah Aruka Literally: A long breath Idiomatically: A deep breath It is pretty common knowledge that when you are tense, the best thing to do is to take a deep breath. Evidently, when under stress, we tend to hold our breath, causing our heart to work harder which raises our blood pressure. The word "Neshima" comes from the verb, "nasham," meaning to take air in and out (Isaiah 44:12). Interestingly enough, there is also a connection with "Neshamah" or soul. One way of stating that someone dies is "Yatzah Nishmato," which can be translated as "one's last breath" or "one's soul left." Neshimah is similar to "nashav" to blow (Isaiah 40:7) though "nashav" is only blowing and not taking anything in which can lead to "kotzer neshima" or breathlessness. In any case, just remember Friday afternoon an hour before Shabbat when your son shows up with two friends which he forgot to warn you about - take a deep breath! My comments: Without God's "spirit" (breath), our physical bodies have no life. The penalty for sin was "dying you will die". Which to me means that we loose the "spirit" of God, without which we cannot continue to live - certainly not forever. Romans 8:10 "However, if the Messiah is in you, then, on the one hand, the body is dead because of sin; but, on the other hand, the Spirit is giving life because God considers you righteous" (CJB). There's a big "IF" in there - "If Messiah is in you". Which means Christ does NOT dwell in every human being. He "knocks" - yes, but most do not "open the door" (Rev 3:20). John 3:16 "God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten on, that whosoever believes in Him, might not perish, but have eternal life." Eternal LIFE is contrasted with PERISH. Perish means to be completely destroyed. "perish" : 622 avpo, llumi apollumi {ap-ol'-loo-mee} Meaning: 1) to destroy 1a) to put out of the way entirely, abolish, put an end to ruin 1b) render useless 1c) to kill 1d) to declare that one must be put to death 1e) metaph. to devote or give over to eternal misery in hell 1f) to perish, to be lost, ruined, destroyed 2) to destroy 2a) to lose Some use "perish" as a METAPHORE for "eternal misery in hell". That doesn't make it concretely so.1 point -
"Twin Studies and Homosexuality"

OK, so you're having a bet each way, but either way you win? Nice work if you can get it. There's no gene, but even if there is a gene it means what you think it means. Your statements about a gay gene and heredity just display deep ignorance of heredity and genetics. About 4-10% of the population are gay, and gay people are born to straight parents and vice versa. There's no 'true breeding gay line', but there needn't be. I've actually stipulated further up the thread that there is not a single 'gay gene' that is present in gay people and absent in straight. But there is also no single 'eye color gene': eye color is determined by a complex interaction of up to 15 genes. Sexuality may be similarly complex, and that would be unsurprising. What the twin studies do show is that there is some genetic component. Simply dismissing that based on prejudice is an ignorant response.1 point
