Can you imagine this happening today????

Can you imagine this happening today???? I will let the historians argue the accuracy of this, but it would sure be nice to see this today. Harry & Bess Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many, or more important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents preceding him. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House. The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence , Missouri . His wife had inherited the house from her mother and father and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there. When he retired from office in 1952 his income was a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year. After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouriby themselves. There was no Secret Service following them. When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale." Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise." As president he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food. Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale (cf. Illinois ). Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference! I say dig him up and clone him!

    toChristians who think Hillaryis Deplorable

Just because many of us disagree with her political platform doesn't mean we hate Hillary; we just hate her politics, aloofness, and deceptiveness.. I hate Obama's politics too; but I think he would be a fun guy to hang out with when he's not being presidential. He's funny and personable.

Are the three Angels' Messages Dead or Alive?

hch, Are you saying that just because some of us don't understand or accept your point of view that we are unstudied? If so, I find that to be a very arrogant assumption. I have studied Daniel and Revelation for over 30 years. I may not know everything; but just because some of us disagree with you doesn't mean we are wrong or ignorant.

    My first car

We also had a truck like this years ago, a bright yellow one, International with a 289 Ford drive train in it. (I hope I remembered that correctly). I had to slam on the brakes once and nearly creamed a car waiting at a red light coming the other direction. I know what the fear of death looks like, from that guy's face as I was going head-on into him but stopped within inches... I remember it had a length of rebar for a stickshift. When we started having kids I was happy to trade it for a car.

Abortion...I would call this a theological issue

It's a difficult and, I think, important question. It's just frustrating that, on this as on so many topics, the difficulty and complexity is submerged, and we're back to two armed camps lobbing grenades and preaching to the choir (to mangle a metaphor).

Am curious what the end goal for this is? Has this subject ever been brought up here or any other place on the internet?

I don't think anything from Daniel 8 - 12 has even had partial fulfillment yet. Maybe "applications" but not fulfillment. These prophecies all involve the time of the end - the "distant future" from Daniel's perspective. See Daniel 8:17, 19, and 26.
