Asking if Women should be Pastors..

There are many modern women (even some on this site) that are not trying to shape your mother into becoming more like them. I am one of those women. I fully expect to have a voice about what my own children learn in school--so much so that I chose to home school them during their primary years. There are many, many different viewpoints in the world. It is up to us, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to choose the path God made for us.

Your "synonym" for "mistake" clears things up. I am of the opinion that an "affair" doesn't necessarily involve physical intimacy. Men and women can get into an "emotional affair" when they share sufficiently intimate information or opinions that tend to draw on the emotions. If I were to tell one of my "girlfriends" that my wife doesn't understand me, or refuses to be intimate with me, or is a "b" (rhymes with itch), I would be crossing a bright line. If she were to say "oh you poor baby; how can you deal with that" and gives me a hug instead of saying "I'm not interested in your marital problems" and changes the subject, she would be crossing a bright line as well. Sometimes emotional intimacy (or fantasies) can become a different kind of affair; but an affair nonetheless. Just my opinion...

    The Trinity doctrine

In the entirety of the post. I've just been watching a program concerning the false gods that have developed in men's mind, and in these last days how comic books have helped to fashion the minds of the young to develop the view that being great in the world's view is enhanced by exaltation of one's self and the more of others one controls, the greater one is. This is natural behavior from birth and typifies the need to be "born again", accomplished only by continuous submission to Jesus as Lord. 7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them[a] in heaven any longer....Revelation 12 John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly... God is Love!~Jesus saves!

    The Trinity doctrine

Because God the FATHER has sent a representation of His Son - "the spirit of His Son" - to be with us and in us, does not mean that representation is another divine BEING, to be worshiped equally with God our Father and Christ His Son. 1 Corinthians 8:6 "yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live." (NKJ) Revelation 5:13 "Blessing and honor and glory and power be to Him who sits upon the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!” Ephesians 5:20 “. . . giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ . . .” Ephesians 4:6 “... one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Luke 11:2 “So He said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven’” (Matt. 6:10).

    The Trinity doctrine

To consider an entity (or a power) to be a Deity is to consider it worthy of worship. Since there is no command or example in scripture to worship the the Holy Spirit, it is easy to infer that it is not an entity to be worshiped. We worship IN the Spirit; but we don't worship the Spirit.

Indeed. It seems that one of the most important things that God has been trying since He started working with a fallen people is the idea of getting us to not being self centered. In fact, you could even say He has been trying since before Lucifer fell in heaven. It is probably the most difficult thing to learn especially if being selfish is your inborn trait of character. Jesus spent all His life on this earth living with pleasing the Father as His goal in this life. The Father will give all glory to the Son in the kingdom to come and the Holy Spirit has spent all of this earth's history, nearly, trying to get us to see Jesus. I do not know and don't believe it has been revealed at what point in time glory will be given to the Holy Spirit, but I suspect it is not His goal to receive it. All good things come to those who patiently do their duty and who are not focused on self. Jesus said the last shall be first and the one who has received the least seems to be the Holy Spirit and I cannot see it happening that He will always be the least among the Godhead. They are said to be equal members. Really, can you see any of the Godhead who hasn't had the goal of glorifying the others. Likewise, we should each be glorifying someone other than ourselves, be it God who receives our worship or even our fellow humans who should be loved as much as we love ourselves.

    SDAs Out of the Closet

The norms and cultures in a society are duly reflected in the churches in that society. The wheat and tares grow together, not all members in churches are converted, or so filled with the Holy Spirit they reflect the society of heaven rather than the society of earth. Many are new Christians just beginning that walk and groping and learning to walk with God. The church is represented By the Israelite's who left Egypt under the leadership of Moses, and there with them was a mixed multitude who who were a continual influence of unbelief, and rebellion, and complaint. There was another 40 years of wandering in the desert after first coming to the Jordan for a period of cleansing of the body of wanderers. It was time for those adults whose sympathies were fully set in unbelief, fear, and distrust in the Power of God, to learn and repent, yet still perish in the desert. They were not willing to credit power of Divine Love to empower them to take the land for God. So individuals here and there in the church are the few who are the Calebs an Joshuas who are full of faith in the Almighty Merciful and Loving God, who is prepared and offering full salvation to every human being. But we are as a body still bound by the limitations of our societies fear of those who are "other", and we are naturally uncomfortable around the mentally ill, the addicted, LGBT, impoverished, and desperate. These are the giants in the land today, and indeed we cannot meet these forces in our human devices. The Battle is the Lords. Living in faith, and reliance on God, recognizing that of ourselves we can do nothing.... then we can meet the world be a living demonstration of redeeming Love. We need to be so infused with the love and wisdom of God, in Jesus that every person we meet will be able to become sensible to their value to God. We may be feeble, and small, but our Savior is Mighty, and He is our strength, and everything we need, to make us everything He wants us to be.... to minister His love to the world. the failure of the church is the failure to love with divine love.

Nor does the Holy Spirit seek to make Himself the One to be worshiped. However just because He maintains a low profile, is that a reason to consider Him less of the Deity? John 16:6-8 NKJV 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. Aubrey, your are correct. There are many modern feminists who do not desire to force other women into any specific mold. They just want women to have a choice.

The Scriptures command worship of God the Father AND of Jesus His Son. They do NOT command worship of a third divine being. There is no example of anyone praying to the Spirit, or praising the Spirit, or glorifying the Spirit, or thanking the Spirit. There certainly is no such action commanded with the understanding that "the Spirit" is a third divine being. John heard every being in Heaven and on earth saying with loud voice, "Glory be to the ONE who sits on the throne, AND to the Lamb". I count only TWO beings glorified here. We can pray FOR the holy spirit, and God will send forth "the spirit OF His Son into our hearts". And when that spirit OF His Son fills our hearts, what does it cry out? Abba Father! Once again - I count only two beings. So - for myself - I will continue to worship, and glorify God the Father AND His Son Jesus Christ. I see no command to do otherwise.

    Male-Female Friendships

I believe women can have platonic friendships with men, and men can have platonic friendships with women. I generally get along better with men than women. However, I would have reservations about a married man or woman going out on the town alone with someone of the opposite sex. I think that's inviting trouble.

Sure they "can" (as proved in your original post). But here's a question: why NOT try to have more friends of the same gender? You say women "generally" have broader interests than just sports, money, and sex--why not try and challenge the men around you to being interested in other things. I think you're short-changing your life experiences by going the "easy" route of having friendships with a majority of one sex over the other. For the record, I don't have personal friendships with men. Non-romantic friendship *doesn't* work for me. Maybe I'm just too attractive to the opposite sex! My marriage nearly fell apart because of it. So, for the past 15 years, I've always shunned relationships with men outside of "family" relationships. It's been a real challenge for me, because, as your second daughter says, "men are just easier to get along with". I took on that challenge though--and my life is so much richer for it! Also have to add...I have one grandmother in her 90s who has for years (30+) insisted that relationships between men and women CAN be "just friends" and that anyone who doesn't believe that is wrong, wrong, wrong! Well...guess what. After 30 years, I finally *caught* her and her "just friend" in a compromising position. She was mortified--having lived that lie for so long!

EGW takes the scriptural quote (Is. 28:10) completely out of context. The subject matter of Is 28 is not an encouragement to study, it is a warning to Judah and Ephraim about spouting off false prophecies while they are drunk: And these also stagger from wine and reel from beer: Priests and prophets stagger from beer and are befuddled with wine; they reel from beer, they stagger when seeing visions, they stumble when rendering decisions. All the tables are covered with vomit and there is not a spot without filth. “Who is it he is trying to teach? To whom is he explaining his message? To children weaned from their milk, to those just taken from the breast? For it is: Do this, do that, a rule for this, a rule for that; a little here, a little there.” Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues God will speak to this people, to whom he said, “This is the resting place, let the weary rest”; and, “This is the place of repose”— but they would not listen. So then, the word of the Lord to them will become: Do this, do that, a rule for this, a rule for that; a little here, a little there — so that as they go they will fall backward;" (Is. 28:7-13) To me, this is an indication that she was not infallible in her interpretation of scripture. The fact that a lot of people just swallow whatever she allegedly wrote without checking the scriptural context is an indication that they take her word over the Word of God rather than the other way around. No knocking EGW - she was an inspired writer. But an infallible prophet of the order of Isaiah, Daniels, etc? No way.

Even if all of the EGW quotes and James White quotes said exactly and explicitly what you wanted them to say about the Holy Spirit, wouldn't you still be obligated to test those teachings by the Bible (see the Fundamental Beliefs of SDA's #18, last part) ?

Please stop creating new threads about gays

I'll support the motion not to start a new homo topic thread. Tacking on to a topic already up and running may have positive intent for clarifying said topic. As for me..... I'd rather talk about cats

One of the ways that old testament scenarios developed unhealthy mentalities about negative reality was by carrying signs and calling out "Unclean! Unclean!", wherever they moved. I'm suggesting the avatar we provide accomplishes the same affect. I ran into a story this morning that made me realize that under the most severe negative circumstances, the goodness of those highly motivated, will highly assuage the same.
