Oh boy! Just when you thought it couldn't get worse!

I have received an extensive response from the Conference. I continue to be in contact with that Conference. I have asked for permission to post in this forum their response to me. In addition, I have informed them of the discussion in the forum and informed them that they may come here and directly post their response. Due to the 17 hour time difference, please wait a bit longer for a response.

Here's your (not so) totally useless fact(s) of the day:

The first palindrome ever recorded was spoken in the Garden of Eden - "Madam I'm Adam".

    Leadership

Some will see the following piece by a retired 4-Star general as simply of interest to military people. Others may see it as the perspective of a person who once served President trump in a political role. I see it as a reflection on leadership and of value to people of differing backgrounds. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/jim-mattis-duty-democracy-and-the-threat-of-tribalism/ar-AAGrBMW?ocid=spartandhp

    SYZYGY

SYZYGY: Add a new word to your vocabulary. If you do not know that that word means, look it up and focus on the astronomical aspect of its meanings. By the way, if anyone can tell me how to pronounce it, let me know, I would like to hear you speak it.

    Trivia

5 Things You Didn't Know About Martin Luther King Jr._2 On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Here are 5 things you didn't know about this widely respected activist and man of peace... The Only Other American Given a National Holiday Is George Washington In 1986, Martin Luther King Jr. Day was designated as an official holiday after a bill was first introduced in the House of Representatives in 1968 by Representative John Conyers of Michigan. Each legislative session, the bill was resubmitted, but it took many years before public pressure caused Congress to pass it. Some of the earlier opposition was because of the date chosen, January 15, since it was considered by some to be too close to the holidays. His First Name Wasn’t Martin King was named after his father, Reverend Michael King Sr., but both he and his father changed their name to Martin in 1934 after becoming inspired by the 16th-century theologian Martin Luther. Because King was 5 years of age at the time, his family and close friends continued to call him “Mike” throughout the years. He Was Bright From the Beginning King first began school when he was 5 years old but had to wait until the next year to enter first grade because he was considered too young. A precocious child, he skipped second grade, along with several other grade levels, including his senior year at high school. At age 15, he entered Morehouse College and earned a degree in sociology. Dr. King Became a Minister at an Early Age King first thought about becoming a lawyer or physician instead of a minister like his father but changed his mind after he studied in a class with the head of the school of Religion at Morehouse College, Dr. George Kelsey. King changed his mind and decided to enter the ministry, becoming ordained at 19 in the year 1948. A Sneeze Could Have Cost King His Life in an Earlier Attempt at Assassination In 1958, while at a book signing, a 42-year-old woman with paranoid delusions named Izola Ware Curry stabbed King. The weapon she used was a letter opener that was about 7-inches long and came perilously close to a major artery. So close, in fact, that doctors said so much as a sneeze from King before the injury was repaired would have proved fatal.

    Bitter Water Exodus 32:20

Exodus 32:20 "And he (Moses) took the calf which they had made and burned it with fire, and ground it to powder, and scattered it over the surface of the water, and made the sons of Israel drink it. (NAS) I was thinking about the symbolism of the water from that Rock. The only "water" available for Moses to mix the powder into, was the water from the smitten Rock. This has some interesting symbolism possibilites. At the end of this age, all rebels will have to "drink" the ground powder of Satan's kingdom/image, mixed with the "water" from the smitten Rock/Christ. That water will bring realization, but it won't heal them. If one does not "drink the pure water" (from Jesus) before his false gods are "ground to powder", then he will have to "drink the bitter water" later. Come to think of it, Moses sprinkled the powder of that idol over the whole water source for the camp. The Levites had to drink that water too. They were not exempted. And we are not exempted. We have all set up "gods" in our hearts. And we are forced to "drink a cup" of what we once worshiped. Brings to mind the third trumpet (Rev 8:10-11). A third of the springs/waters are made bitter by a burning star that falls from heaven.

    Where Did Everybody Go?

This used to be one of the busiest and most popular SDA forums on the internet. Suddenly, so many of the long-time posters are gone. With over 8,000 members, this place should be rockin'! Have we run out of topics that are of general interest? I must admit that the more active topics may not be of interest to most people; or they're sufficiently controversial that many folks don't want to jump in. I would encourage some of the newer members to post some topics of interest to them. There is no such thing as a dumb topic.

The Good News and the Character of God (16:4)

How could Paul be so sure about this good news, when it has been opposed or misunderstood by so many through the centuries? What perversion was so serious that Paul could speak as strongly as he did to the Galatian believers? Through the years, I’ve asked many Christians what they consider to be the essence […] The post The Good News and the Character of God (16:4) appeared first on Jon Paulien's Blog. The Eternal Good News (16:3)

What is this eternal gospel, this eternal good news? Surely, no one was more confident that he knew the content of the gospel than the apostle Paul. On one occasion, when his version of the good news was being seriously challenged by some of his own colleagues, Paul made this extraordinary claim: If anyone, if […] The post The Eternal Good News (16:3) appeared first on Jon Paulien's Blog. SDA Research

I do believe pediatric health providers should monitor for adverse childhood experiences, but is this just a research tool or will such information be forwarded to someone who can make a difference? Would additional mental health support for such children be paid for? How? I'd like to mention the mass shootings, and strongly suggest that any teacher reports of violent tendencies, aggressive acting out, bullying, or even aggressive art imagery from the senior year of high school, be included in background checks. Teachers should be encouraged to report high risk students. Many shooters don't go beyond high school. Including records/reports from that senior year would go a long way towards identifying individuals with mental problems which could lead to violent behaviors. Such individuals should not be allowed to possess firearms, unless cleared by two mental health professionals. Also - juvenile court records must be included in background checks for weapons possession.
