    Gynder Dysphoria?

I work with 3, one of which I've known for around 20 years and is a friend. It is absolutely a mental illness and each and everyone of us is only a hairs width away from having something that could go wrong with us. I was shocked, offended and mad when I 1st found out about my friend but over the years I came to understand that we generally look at these things from "our perspective" and think WOW, what a sick twisted perv, it's all about kinky sex, etc. The reality is that to the person who suffers from these types of things it not at all about sick twisted kinky sex. God looks at the heart and when I thought about it, the way I automatically assumed "the cause" of my friend transitioning, I realized it was my heart that was found lacking and probably not my friends. Not looking at situations like this with my old and normal ways is difficult for me even to this day. What we CAN'T do is 'celebrate dysphoria', it would be like celebrating spina bifida or bipolar disorder. We also can't attribute someone else's condition to whatever is bouncing around in our own heads. It's tough to be sure but one thing I'm convinced of is that we all need Christ and those who need Christ more are generally the ones throwing the rocks at the ones that don't fit into society as easily as we do. Gynder Dysphoria?

I will suggest tha some of the issues are rooted in physical abnormalities and not in the mind. There are sometimes genetic differences that are not rooted in the mind, but lie in the genetic structure of the cells. t

Well; I am impressed. This was actually a pretty good article. I do have questions about is it correct to call a truly "intersex born" individual as "trans?" This was a person who actually, was physically born this way. I thought "trans" was more about the mind and whats going on in it, as opposed to being born with the physical characteristics? IDK a lot about it. I knew a trans individual a couple years ago. Worked in a supermarket nearby. If that person was in the store; Id always go to them first if I needed to ask someone a question, because they were the most knowledgeable and friendly to approach. I find it really sad, sick even, that we have to ask the question: "Is there a place in our church" for this person.

    Running With The Horses

Thank you. I had to re-post this as when I first made the post, there was an error or two that I wanted to correct. I sometimes post on a cancer forum, and I thought it would be of interest for some if I posted it here too. I have very fond memories of my late Grandmother and I wandering these beautiful mountains of Alberta when I was younger. No matter how steep the climb, we always chattered away a mile a minute. That was truly the only real Light I had at that time in my life. When I stood here today to take this picture, the following text came to mind: The mountains will bring news of peace to the people, and the hills will announce justice. (Psalms 72:3, N.E.T.) I won't bore anyone here with all of the semantics and theology of this verse; except to say that when I first started looking into it, I was surprised at all of the "scholars" and theologians who tended to argue away about this beautiful text. "It means this." "No, it means that." I am sure you get the picture - well, maybe thats why I included this picture with this post. To make sure. I was the one who personally stood on this spot earlier today and took this picture. I only know what it meant to me, so thats what this post is about. What I can tell people now, is that when I saw this beautiful sight today; the first thought that hit me was "whoever made this has such power, majesty, beauty, etc and considering the size of this mountain; I wondered if maybe that wasn't at least a part of the message in this text? Surely, most can see by this picture; that "God" (whatever that is to you) is bigger than us; and if He is bigger than us; if He is in us, then why wouldn't He show through? Was it in contemplation of this fact that the prophet Isaiah also said: Cancer may be that "mountain" for many of us, including the caregivers, but, from my personal experience, there is "something" bigger than us, that will always find a way to shine through. Today, my wife had a bad day while I was out standing before this majestic mountain; but when I got home, she lit right up in relief and just so happy I was back home safe to be with her. Could this be something bigger than me, showing through? The "mountain" of cancer, seems to give way to the Light within, as we let it shine, as in a sure place, and on such solid footings as this mountain, for others who are suffering or in want. Perhaps, this is a part of my own, personal message, as I keep saying:

    Another Word of Caution

Many topics here at Adventistan seem to get carried away with wild interpretations of Scripture and it's prophecies, some with assertions that we must follow those theories. Reading in the comments to accompany 2 Timothy chapter 2 in my Study Bible with EGW Comments, I find these comments regarding reading and understanding the Bible. I fully recognize that some will not be able recognize themselves in what this is saying. Now, there are some that may think that they are fully capable, with their finite judgment, to take the Word of God and to state what are the words of inspiration and what are not the words of inspiration. I want to warn you off that ground, my brethren in the ministry. “Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.” [Exodus 3:5.] There is no finite man that lives, I care not who he is or whatever is his position, that God has authorized to pick and choose in His Word. 5LtMs, Ms 13, 1888, par. 13 It is true that the apostle has said that there are some things that are hard to be understood in the Scriptures. [2 Peter 3:16.] So there are. And if it were not that there are subjects that are difficult and hard to be understood, well might the skeptic who now pleads that God has given a revelation that cannot be understood, well might he, I say, have something else to plead. And although we may try to reason in regard to our Creator how long He has had existence, where evil first entered into our world, and all these things, we may begin to reason about them until we fall down faint and exhausted with the research when there is yet an infinity beyond. We cannot grasp it, so what man is there that dares to take that Bible and say this part is inspired and that part is not inspired? I would have both my arms taken off at my shoulders before I would ever make the statement or set my judgment upon the Word of God as to what is inspired and what is not inspired. Human minds without this special assistance of the Spirit of God will see many things in the Bible very difficult to be understood, because they lack a divine enlightenment. It is not that men should come to the Word of God by setting up their own way or their own will or their own ideas, but it is to come with a meek and humble and holy spirit. 5LtMs, Ms 13, 1888, par. 18 Never attempt to search the Scriptures unless you are ready to listen, unless you are ready to be a learner, unless you are ready to listen to the Word of God as though His voice were speaking directly to you from the living oracles. Never let mortal man sit in judgment upon the Word of God or pass sentence as to how much of this is inspired and how much is not inspired and that this is more inspired than some other portion. God warns him off that ground. God has not given him any such work to do. Ms 13, 1888, Sermon by Sister Ellen White The entire message may be read here: https://m.egwwritings.org/en/book/4628.1#1

The Apostle Paul said this, "Study to shed thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: …" 2 Timothy 2:15-17

    Another Word of Caution

Text: 2 Timothy 4:1-11. Here we have presented before us the work of him who shall open the Scriptures to others. It is a most solemn work, and all who engage in it should be men of prayer. It is not enough for the minister to stand up in the desk and give an exposition of the Scriptures. His work has but just begun. There is pastoral work to do, and this means to reprove and exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine: that is, he should present the Word of God to show wherein there is a deficiency. If there is anything in the character of the professed followers of Christ, the burden should certainly be felt by the minister, and not that he should lord it over God’s heritage. To deal with human minds is the nicest job that was ever committed to mortal man. There will be human prejudices and many other things that will bar his way. He will have to meet hearts that have never been subdued in their childhood. They have never been brought into order and into line; they have never been brought under control. Therefore, in dealing with these minds, where reproof is necessary, to rebuke with all longsuffering, to be successful in this work, the servant of God will have to arm himself with the same mind that was in Christ Jesus; and if he walks humbly with his God, he will recognize in every soul for whom he has labored that they are the purchase of the blood of Christ: that our precious Saviour considered them of such value that He did not withhold Himself, but gave up His life in order that they might have a provision, a trial, a time when they should consider the things of eternal interest, and that they should weigh them carefully, attentively, and see if they do not consider whether or not it is to their advantage and profit to build into eternal life.
