    My Wife Died: I Did What God Asked

    Yes, We knew the whole time but that just gave more meaning to "making each day count" as much as possible. No matter how hard it got on some days, we always felt and experienced God's presence. The last words she said to me was "I love you too..."

    Church on Zoom

    I assume that Zoom does what it is supposed to do. Unlike the Facebook app for smartphones that watches your whole phone. I do Facebook, but not thru their app and will not use Facebook messenger either. Usually I keep a dedicated browser to only go to Facebook and my regular browser I frequently check and purge any Facebook cookies that got there from some other page. TikTok is another app said to be Chinese owned.

    Pope Francis Tells Christians Not to Try to Convert Nonbelievers

    This sentiment I have seen often as I read thru the Testimonies having just recently read this very chapter. I wonder sometimes how far people fall when we have been given such great light and the blessing of knowledge that the "men of old" desired to know. But then, I don't need to ponder too long, as I only have to look at my own failures.

    My Wife Died: I Did What God Asked

    Sometimes we wonder why we are here after Jesus said He is coming quickly 2000 years ago. But to Him, even 2000 years is coming back quickly, since He has the framework of eternity to work in. Our short lives are over in a flash like the mayfly, but seem so long and He is still not here. But He will come back bringing His eternal life (Himself) with Him. But God said to the "souls under the alter" that they should wait (rest) a little longer. He is working for the perfect end of the great controversy for the entire universe. He is good for His word to make it happen.

    Pope Francis Tells Christians Not to Try to Convert Nonbelievers

    I think the whole point of this kind of approach is that like Jesus, any gospel worker has to identify with the people they wish to serve; discern the felt needs expressed, and assist in meeting said needs. With many that would be more temporal, such as food etc; with others, they express a need for a doctrine or verse that will speak to whatever they have going on. Point being, no one really needs an entire crusade or "acceptance" of some church to "receive" Jesus. If the "evangelism" is really about Jesus, there will be no strings attached. Personal religion among us as a people is at a low ebb. There is much form, much machinery, much tongue religion; but something deeper and more solid must be brought into our religious experience. With all our facilities, our publishing houses, our schools, our sanitariums, and many, many other advantages, we ought to be far in advance of our present position. It is the work of the Christian in this life to represent Christ to the world, in life and character unfolding the blessed Jesus. If God has given us light, it is that we may reveal it to others. But in comparison with the light we have received, and the opportunities and privileges granted us to reach the hearts of the people, the results of our work thus far have been far too small. God designs that the truth which He has brought to our understanding shall produce more fruit than has yet been revealed. But when our minds are filled with gloom and sadness, dwelling upon the darkness and evil around us, how can we represent Christ to the world? How can our testimony have power to win souls? What we need is to know God and the power of His love, as revealed in Christ, by an experimental knowledge. We must search the Scriptures diligently, prayerfully; our understanding must be quickened by the Holy Spirit, and our hearts must be uplifted to God in faith and hope and continual praise. {5T 743.2} Missionaries for God are wanted, faithful men and women who will not shirk responsibility. Judicious labor will accomplish good results. There is real work to do. The truth should be brought before people in a careful manner by those who unite meekness with wisdom. We should not hold ourselves aloof from our fellowmen; for their souls are as precious as our own. We can carry the light into their homes, with a softened and subdued spirit plead with the unconverted to give their hearts to Christ, show the professed followers of Jesus that there are higher attainments for them to reach, pray with them when it seems proper, and carefully present to them the special truths for this time. {RH, October 10, 1882 par. 18} Christ is saying to his people, "Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal." The churches in every Conference should enlarge their field of labor. They should reach out farther and still farther, to adjoining cities and towns, carrying the light to thousands of souls who are hungering and thirsting, weeping and praying, for light. These poor souls now feel that they are shut up in darkness, and they long for light; and if each one who has the light would do his best to enlighten others, how many might be brought to a knowledge of the truth! If all the members of the church were imbued with the spirit of Jesus, and would go to work for kindred, friends, and neighbors, for all with whom they come in contact, what a work might be accomplished! Some would not accept their labors, but others would receive the light, and would with rejoicing enter the path that leads to everlasting life. {RH, January 6, 1891 par. 18}

    Who's fooling who?

    clouds of utter confusion. This means nothing. Absolutely nothing about Jesus. If a Bible "prophecy" is in fact Biblical, it will always point to Jesus; NOT a prediction. The Apostle, Peter tells us that prophecy is "a light that shines in a dark place"; and the only light that meets said descriptor is Jesus. Jesus said "I am the light of the world." He doesnt really care if your predictions are true or not true; only that your "interpretation" leads people directly to Him, and only lifts Him up. Only people who want to "draw away disciples unto their own selves" would say otherwise and use cartoon-like secular material to "prove" their very "private" interpretation.

    HCH, thank you for your response. You have just made my day as you have demonstrated that your interpret the Bible by outside secular data instead of listening to what the Bible is actually saying. * The basic Biblical verse is found in Daniel 12: 11-13. * A reading of several of the translations states that the time period is to end as the end of the specified days. * IOW, the 1335 days time period ends at the end of the 1335 days, not the beginning of the 1335th day and the end of the 1290 days, not the beginning of the 1290th day. * The date calculator that you used ended the specified time period that you entered at the beginning of the specified day. That introduced an error into your calculation. * I am aware that you may attempt to tell me that the introduced error was that of one day and I stated that you were two days off. I will let you figure out that question. I have given you a clue that shows your date calculator did not follow the Biblical statement. * I will say again: You need to learn to let the Bible speak for itself and not read into the text something form current secular events. Take a calendar and count the days, as I did. Do not depend on a secular date calculator without verifying what it tells you.

    HCH has often stated that he is a student that gets things wrong. Probably all of us agree that eh does get things wrong. In his video, he begins a 1290 day prophecy on September 20, 2016 and ending on April 2, 2020. I decided to see if he counted correctly. 2016 100 days between September 20 and the end of the year. 2017 365 days in the year. 2018 365 days in the year. 2019 365 days in the year. 2020 095 days The ending 95th day was April 4, not April 2. NOTE: February had 29 says as it was a Leap Year 1290 TOTAL DAYS It is clear that HCHs count was off by two days. In addition, he had a total misunderstanding as to what the Bible actually taught.

    Is the Virus a sign of the End?

    This is a really good point. Id like to come back to another time when I have the energy. I also recall some years ago people saying that "USSR will never be open to Christianity...etc etc. And I have some old signs articles from the thirties that back up our teachings re "they shall not cleave one to another." The fight is real; it hasnt stopped, and its not going to get better until Jesus comes. The all-too common tenet of "evolution" is that "sin gets better." Jesus says sin will be destroyed

    Is the Virus a sign of the End?

    Pierrepaul: Actually Mrs. White did comment on the first world war, and in a lot of ways that war is still going on and the events she predicted has been growing since then. Now about Sunday laws. Amos says that God will do nothing without revealing it to the prophets. There was a two direction eschatology through out the Old Testament: Either they were faithful in the land and the world will come to them to learn the truth. Or else if they were unfaithful they would suffer curses and if nothing else worked then they would go into exile. The exile was to have been the last days, the Hebrews were to teach their neighbors about their God and God's faithfulness and their unfaithfulness. The exile was supposed to end in a second great exodus lead by the messiah. Daniel changed this eschatology into another 490 years in the land and what would have happened had Jesus been accepted. He would have set up the kingdom upon raising from the dead after 3 1/2 years in the tomb. Jesus was not accepted, so he spend only 3 days in the tomb and needed a second coming, and tied it to the fall of Jerusalem. Hebrews explains why Jesus did not (or would not) come back around the time of the fall of Jerusalem, and was focused on his heavenly ministry for us that he would not have been able to do if he came back. But this caused the church to loose it's first love, so Revelation had the theme of "Preach again!!!" and the last days could have been connected to the Domitian persecution, but did not allow Domitian to get a swelled head about being the great Antichrist, that the last days happening in his persecution was still based on the gospel being spread to the whole world. Any sign of the end is based on the gospel being preached into all the world. But God has given us different situations where it could have happened. If the basic principles can apply we can stay with the basic principles. If history changes too much (for example we are not in the Babylon captivity) God will apply the principles to new applications as the times warrant. Joachin of Flore made applications to soon after his time (and principles that were picked up by the Franciscans and evolved over time into Adventism and Millerism and one of the major threads that came together to form Seventh-day Adventism). A basic situation under a great empire such as Rome and the Holy Roman empire with Papal supremacy could have been applied during the 4th and 5th heads. But as we went under the 6th head and then moving towards the 7th needed a new prophet to give principles for the time we are living in. Mrs. White sees Sabbath and Sunday playing a role in the Christian world, but indications that there will be other testing issues outside of the Christian world. She also grew from "Sunday Laws" to the issue of "Liberty of Conscience." Sadly we have not caught up to her. The typical Adventist reads the words such as "Liberty of conscious threatened" we have an automatic spell check in our mind so that by the time those words reach our brain they have been translated into the words "Sunday Law" which we read back into her text. Her eschatology is Catholicism, Apostate Protestantism joining with existentialism (spiritualism), and that we will face tests where we need to compromise something in our conscience to go along with the system, and we have to evaluate if we are really following the truth as we understand it, and will we allow others who have different understandings than we do to follow their conscience or will we pressure them into compliance. This is her basic eschatology, Sunday laws or not, and she did see issues with Sabbath and Sunday with possibility Sunday laws (whether completed or not) bringing the test to the Christian community, and similar tests for others.

    Trivia

    5 Things You Didn't Know About the Battle of Shiloh On this day in 1862, the Union Army led by Gen. Ulysses S. Grant led the Union troops to success in the Battle of Shiloh in Tennessee. Here are five riveting facts you probably didn’t know about the Battle of Shiloh... The Battle of Shiloh Was The Bloodies Battle in American History Up To That Point. Union casualties in the Battle of Shiloh were 13,047 (1,754 killed, 8,408 wounded, and 2,885 missing) while the Confederate casualties were 10,699 (1,728 killed, 8,012 wounded, and 959 missing or captured). With 23,746 casualties, the Battle of Shiloh was the bloodiest battle in American history up to that time. Three more years of the Civil War would go on to see eight larger and bloodier battles. The Battle of Gettysburg would become the deadliest battle of the war with casualties between 46,000 and 51,000. Many Union Deaths Were Blamed on the Man Who Wrote Ben Hur. General Lewis Wallace was a Union general and future governor of the New Mexico Territory, among other things. He also wrote the historical adventure Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, an 1880 bestseller and influential Christian novel. General Ulysses Grant blamed many of the Union deaths during the Battle of Shiloh on Wallace, saying that his failure to follow orders and delays in bringing in reserves had nearly caused the Union to lose the battle. Later, Wallace explained his actions, causing Grant to change his mind, publicly admitting he had mistakenly blamed Wallace. General Albert Johnson, Who Died At Shiloh, Was The Highest Ranking Officer Killed During The Civil War. General Albert Sidney Johnston had a long military career before the Civil War, having fought in the Texas War of Independence and the Mexican American War. The Confederate States President Jefferson Davis considered him to be the best Confederate officer before Robert E. Lee. Johnston was the officer with the highest rank from either the Confederates or the Union to be killed during the Civil War, and Jefferson Davis considered his death to be a turning point for the Confederate Army. The Sunken Road and Bloody Pond Might Not Have Really Existed. Two of the geographical locations most associated with the Battle of Shiloh might be more legend than anything else. "The Sunken Road" has become legendary as the site of the fiercest fighting at Shiloh. The story of the fighting on the sunken road rested on a myth of the road having been worn down below surrounding terrain, creating a natural trench for the Union soldiers, but there is no evidence of the road being worn away like this. Likewise, the so-called bloody pond may have been a myth. There is no evidence of the pond becoming blood-stained, and in fact, there is no evidence a pond even existed at that spot during the battle. Today, however, despite the debate over Civil War myth versus reality, the Bloody Pond and the Sunken Road remain immensely popular with visitors who flock to the battlefield near what was once Shiloh Church. The Battle of Shiloh Was Key in Allowing the Union Forces to Press on Through Mississippi. Had the Confederate Army been successful at Shiloh, they would have blocked the Union from advancing into Mississippi. However, their defeat ended any hopes of keeping the Union Army from making it to Mississippi. The Union didn’t have an easy time making it to Vicksburg, Mississippi, the last Confederate controlled section of the Mississippi River, but once they did, the Union controlled the Mississippi River, cutting off the Confederacy from supplies coming in from the west.
