    Death of My Son

Thank you. My approach to this is to be very public in the hope that such can be an agent to reduce such in the future.

Ellen White's Warning Against Christian Nationalism

IN DECEMBER 1888, A SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST WAS FACED with a challenge. The U.S. Senate was holding hearings in a committee run by Sen. Henry Blaire of New Hampshire regarding a proposed bill for a national Sunday law, which he had introduced that May. Senate Bill 2983, which was referred to the Committee on Education and Labor for review and debate, stated that its purpose was “to secure to the people the enjoyment of the first day of the week, commonly known as the Lord’s day, as a day of rest, and to promote its observance as a day of religious worship.”1 https://content.yudu.com/web/44tez/0A44tfs/Summer2024Vol32No3/html/htmlArticles/index.html?

    (N) Hosea 14:9 Who is wise, and he shall understand these things ? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

    Conservtive, Liberal or ?

Conservative, Liberal or ?: In the following article, Reinder Bruinsma begins with the perspective of a language other than English and ends up stating that the SDA Church needs people of several perspectives. https://atoday.org/conservative-liberal-traditional-progressive-or-what/

Beware of AI engaging you in the forum.

Beware of AI engaging you in the forum or on your mail, it will ask you to be its friend and give you a false background, then it will make its pitch to join it for a sermon with no interaction or feedback. Took me a while to figure it out, but it doesnt really answer any questions and just gives you more statements and invitations to be its friend and join it on instagram, messenger, ect..

    Death of My Son

August 9, 2024 Kratom Withdrawal: On August 5, 2024, my second son, ended his life with a self-inflicted gun shot. He was a certified U.S. Police Officer who had retired from working as a Correctional Officer at a major California prison--27 years, I believe. As such he had been granted by California, a life-time concealed weapon permit. It is believed that at the time of his death, he may have been 5-days into withdrawal from taking Kratom. Kratom is an International, very popular herbal remedy. It is illegal for sale in some nations in Europe. But, in the United States, it is legal for sale, but may (?) have some restrictions on advertising. As Kratom is considered to be a natural, herbal item it is not an opioid. However, it is known to have many of the same effects on people who ingest it as an opioid would have. It is highly addictive. Withdrawal is associated with major psychiatric issues. Withdrawal should always be associated with medical management. It is likely that we will never know what was going on in his mind at the time of his death. It is my hope that my publication of his death can result in decisions by people who may be addicted to seek medical help to overcome their addiction.

    Queer Insights

In 2023, the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Germany decided that their members needed additional information related to issues of sexuality. They assembled a group of some 25 SDA authors, of various backgrounds and published the following titled book in the German language (Title below is the English title.). Each German edition quickly sold out. In 2024, this book was translated into the English language, as I have listed below. Queer Insights: Contributions to a More Balanced Discussion on Sexual Orientations and Relationships, Werner E. Lange, Dennis Meier, and Reinder Bruinsma, editors. The following link takes you to a review of the English book. https://spectrummagazine.org/culture/queer-insights-a-valuable-resource-for-pastors-and-church-members/ NOTE: Thanks to Steven Chavez, writing in a longer review published in Spectrum. This book may be purchased from Amazon.
