Liberty and Health Alliance
phkrause reacted to hobie for a topic
We had attorney Jonathan Zirkle from Liberty and Health Alliance come and go over religious liberty issues with some pretty amazing sermons as we see in these videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B_gse6sYXE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er_3Amcy3lI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S8C1Po9LM4 Then I checked with my wife and coincidentally we are going on a mission trip sponsored by Liberty and Health Alliance to Vieques, Puerto Rico so looked more closely at who they are. They state they are a 'ministry founded by Seventh-day Adventist Christians, we believe in the gift of life and whole-person health bestowed by God, medical freedom, and liberty of conscience. Our commitment is reflected in the many thousands of lives touched by our clinics offering medical, dental, eye care, and other essential services 100% free of charge to the public.' Pretty neat, we are getting on zoom to go over all our tasks and its intense what we will have to do, so we pray the Lord gives us strength and keeps His hand of protection over us as well as all those going, as we both have health issues to say the least. We go by faith and depend on the Lord when we come across roadblocks as I can say this organization does. We have been with them before on mission trips so are familiar with how they go about it, with Adventist colleges and students assisting. Well, on the zoom meeting they told us of what I can truly say shows how the devil works to undermine Gods work. The tickets for the plane flight for the students from the west coast was all set, when the flight was suddenly cancelled. As the hotels, bus rides, events are all set, they tried everything they could to find another as closely comparable as they could. But, the only flight on a close timeline was routed through New York, and added a additional port fee tax for every student, and they cannot take that off and no way to adjust. Now the students are not rich as some of you may remember from your college days. So we prayed on it, and put it in the Lords hands, but the amounts are bit much for some of them, and other substantial charges have come up so more prayers are being said. We are relying on God to see a way forward for the group, as my wife and I are former Pathfinder leaders, and used to 'roughing it' as they say. So if you keep us in your prayers, and as the Lord moves you, this is a chance to help out this group which has done much and looks to go forward for the Lord and His work. Here is their site... https://libertyandhealth.org/1 point -
God
phkrause reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
The foundation for this discussion arises from some differences in understanding the nature of Christ: * Was Christ fully God and fully human? If so, what does that mean? NOTE: I say that Christ was fully God and fully human. I seek to understand that this means. * I agree that God cannot sin. * I agree that humanity sins. * I agree that Christ while both fully human and fully God, did not sin. * "I agree that Christ was the only one living on Earth why never sinned. * Over the 80+ years of my life, my understanding of this has changed, more than once. At this point in time, I can only say that I still do not fully understand the nature of the one who was Christ. NOTE: Gustave, I welcome your full response to my post.1 point -

The Church of Rome denies Jesus came in the flesh
phkrause reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Your understanding of venerate is correct. It is far different from worship. We SDAs often venerate Ellen White. You tell us that individual belief must come from someone teaching that person. You are simply wrong. People often come to a religious belief from their own individual study, and not from someone teaching them. In addition, individual church members may come to a belief from someone who is not a part of their church. I have sat in a a Sabbath School class that has long-time Adventists, newly baptized Adventists and people who are not members of any denomination. Each person has a set of beliefs. One member is a newly baptized SDA. She is teaching others where she lives things that she thinks the Bible teaches that came from her personal study and are not part of SDA belief. In addition, she is teaching things that she got off of the Internet and are not part of SDA belief. If you want to know what Catholics teach, go to an official source, and do not look to a member. It is unethical for you to do otherwise and continue to claim what they deny. Individual Adventists may believe that each person has an individual soul that lives on after death. Yesterday, i read an article that suggested that perhaps 20% of SDA members believe such. But it would be dishonest for you to state that such is an SDA teaching. Church members are growing in faith, understanding and life. All denominations, including SDA, have members who do not fully represent denominational beliefs. It is clear that you do not understand Catholic beliefs. That is OK. You do not have to understand such in order to be saved. Wht you need to do is to be more accurate when you decide to state what Catholics believe.1 point -

I am going to chime in on this thread with a comment as to why I do not report some issues here in Club Adventist. All humans are imperfect. That includes Adventist members and leaders. The secular media at large often reports on instances of misconduct by Adventist leaders. I report some here in CA here because I believe that it is important enough that our membership should be informed. I do not want that to be the focus of Club Adventist. I leave that focus to other Internet forums. Therefore, I limit my reporting of such.1 point
