As many of you know I spent 20 years as a Denver VA Chaplain, and also as a chaplain for other hospitals. In part, due to my background, I was appointed to join a special group of area hospital people to work with HIV infected people. So, as a chaplain to that group, I spent one day a week working with HIV infected people for 13-months. Each week I shared a meal with such. * These included, men, women & children. * Some were former Adventists. * Some were present Adventists. * Just about all of the adults acknowledged that they were homosexual. * Some were celibate. * As they got to know me, they shared their journey with me. * I shared God's love for each of them in return. * No, I did not tell them that homosexuality was part of 'God's plan for humans. But, I could tell them of God's personal love for them. How many reading this have ever sat next to a HIV infected person at a shared meal?

I wonder if they told their clergy to expend as much energy, money, and man hours into as a group trying to change the laws that are responsible for the mess and loss of life. Then all want to be seen as the righteous ones, those that care ready to lay down their lives, not those nasty unchristian conservatives. The mess we have going in MPLS is manufactured according to many, .Those constantly fanning the flames are not from MN, they are professionally trained agitators . .It is a deflection from some of the most corrupt administrations in the U. It did as was intended ,drawing attention away fromthe fraud and theft They know exactly what they are doing attention away from our governor, AG and our Somali congress woman. The tide has turned in a rapid way to support of this corruption when it had been building against the democratic administration. Families are being encouraged publically to rid the landscape of conservatives. "Sadly it will be necessary to take a harsh stand against family,even your own children or your parents" The leaders of this mess do not give a fig for the poor "illegals". They are simply useful idiots. Democrats and republicans have had ample time to correct that border mess with common sense laws. laws that would eliminate the need to come illegal,would stop that hideous practise of trafficking children. I know what the dems get in return for this,for the life of me I cant understand the republicans for this to remain as it does. Everyone has to gain something or when one party basically has the rule this would change. There have been times when both parties have had control and we have not made any headway.

This episode begins with Jesus and His disciples sitting in the upper room at the Lord's supper. After He tells them He is leaving to be with the Father, the episode jumps back to the beginning of holy week. Jesus is on the donkey, surrounded by His closest followers, approaching Jerusalem. Jesus is welcomed to the city with shouts of hosana and hundreds waiving palm branches. He arrives in the temple and begins to preach. During his preaching His composure changes. He is deeply disturbed. It is evident that He knows that not only his death is near but that he will be tortured before. He is completely committed to the cause. He won't back down. But what do His followers think? As I have read accounts of the passion over the years I have increasingly seen a divine model for masculinity. Jesus showed emotion but He never retreated. In His pain, He still had sympathy for others. He never demonstrated self-pity. How does our concept of masculinity differ from the example Jesus gave us? In this episode of The Chosen we see the writers continue with the narrative that Mary gets it. The twelve disciples were stuck on their beliefs of what the Messiah was going to do that they never fully grasp the correct understanding of what Jesus was telling them each time He told them He would die and suffer many things. In The Chosen narrative, they are portraying Mary Magdalene as one of the few that listens and understands. It seems that in her narrative, she lived a life of sin so she was never fed stories of who the Messiah would be and what He would do. She started off with Jesus with more of a blank slate. Thus, she doesn't have the Confirmation Bias working against her. The writers are also portraying John as putting some of the pieces together but not as far along as Mary. We know that all abandoned Him in the garden. John was the only one that came back, stayed and was at the foot of the cross,,, with Mary. Mary may not have been in the garden when Jesus was arrested. I like the narrative The Chosen is embracing. I have not watched the Bible round table yet. I will do that over the course of the next week and post again with my thoughts on that. My big take-away from this episode is how Confirmation Bias impacts different people. As Seventh-day Adventists, what beliefs do we have that would make it difficult to see where we might be wrong? One that I could think of is adding fish in the diet. I think many Adventist may find it difficult to admit that adding fish in the diet could be beneficial.
