    Adventis HigherEducation

The Ju;y 2026 issue of the Recorder contains an article by Darla M. Tucker that mentions that La Sierra University has been rated high in educational quality by the 2026 Forbes Evaluation of U.S. colleges and Universities. The comment was accurate, as far as it went. In short it was selective. It would have been much better journalism if it had more fully reported on the SDA colleges in general, and not confined its reporting to one issue and one school. The following aspects of the Forbes report shows that our colleges are in deep trouble. Our members need to understand and deal with the entire reality. The 2026 Forbes rankings of Adventist institutions from most to least financially healthy: La Sierra University – B+ with a GPA of 3.32 Walla Walla University – B with a GPA of 3.00 Adventist Health University – C+ with a GPA of 2.45 Southwestern Adventist University – C+ with a GPA of 2.35 Southern Adventist University – C+ with a GPA of 2.31 Andrews University – C with a GPA of 2.01 Kettering College – C- with a GPA of 1.97 Union Adventist University – C- with a GPA of 1.79 Washington Adventist University – D with a GPA of 1.57 Oakwood University – D with a GPA of 1.32 Pacific Union College – D with a GPA of 1.30 From a June 12, 2026 article in Spectrum: https://spectrummagazine.org/news/la-sierra-and-walla-walla-universities-top-list-of-us-adventist-higher-ed-finance-rankings/

    Kinship

In a post dated July 4, Asia Joe objected to the idea that people not convicted by a criminal court could be restricted as to attending SDA services. A valid question. We have a legal and ethical obligation to protect innocent children that does not depend on a prior criminal conviction. We should not require a criminal assault on a child prior to taking steps to protect the child. Criminal convictions require a a very high level of proof. Protection of people, children and adults, requires common sense, not a criminal conviction.

  12. Women could not "do the job" of firemen either. Lacked the upper body strength to pass the physical requirements. When the fire chief of Los Angeles made this public, rather than refuse women entry into the fire department, they fired the chief. This kind of stuff is/was not unusual in California civil service. There are many people working in certain occupations who should not be there. Social engineering types ultimately control the hiring process. Wonder who controls the process of placing a tranny as an Elder in a Christian church? Considering the number of likely qualified men with a wife and children who recognize his leadership compared with the number of transgendered in the congregation, are we to believe that a transgendered person is the best choice? Adventist congregations are dumbfounded and astonied at the rise of the sexual deviant in the denomination but do nothing about it. Years ago, there was a YouTube interview with a young female pastor who was placed by the conference over a church. Half the congregation left, either the church or that congregation. Probably something similar is going to take place with homosexuals. They will be placed in leadership positions, regardless of what the congregation wants, or the deluded congregations will welcome them. One of the SDA pastors pushing for homosexual inclusion was under psychiatric care. He ultimately left the denominational ministry, is doing counselling to help gays accept themselves. Working with AIDS patients, many of my coworkers were either gay or lesbian. The agency provided counselling sessions to help the workers deal with their own issues, not of only grief at seeing so many young people die a miserable death but of their own sexuality. Most of them, if they could, would probably choose a straight lay in the missionary position to a form of sexual expression which, in those days, was potentially lethal. Choosing Jesus was always an option but most of them hated Him, Christians, church, i.e., they loved darkness rather than light.

  13. The report’s central claim is that the “wall of separation between church and state” is a metaphor, not a constitutional text.
