Exciting News
Kevin H and one other reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Adventist Today and Spectrum are two independent publications that do not officially speak for the SDA Church. Each informs as to news that is not easily available, and each evaluates the SDA Church. Both publish a journal that is sent to a few people. Both publish on the Internet that is available to a much larger group of people. Those two publications are different. On May 17, 2026, Spectrum is expected to post a unique article that differs from its past publications in two aspects. You may read that article at: https://spectrummagazine.org/views/opinion/a-catholic-and-an-adventist-disagree-over-trinity-interpretations-yet-find-friendship-online/ * One of the unusual aspects is that the article was written by two different people. I am only one of those people. * The second unique aspect of that article is that the second author is a devout Roman Catholic ho posts on Club Adventist under the name Gustave. Here he freely posts his overall thinking of Adventism. My position is that it is helpful to understand how other people think about us. NOTE: I have decided to unlock this thread even though the article has not yet been posted. I expect that it will be posted later today--Sunday, the 17th.2 points -

What If YOU Could No Longer Drive?
phkrause and one other reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Have you ever thought what your life would be like if you could no longer drive an automobile? For the past 6-months, I have been involved in an extensive conversation with the State of California, as to whether or not I would be allowed to drive an automobile. * This has involved examinations and reports from two eye doctors. * it has involved multiple trips to a local DMV office to resolve/respond to issues. * Yesterday it came to an end with a 30-minute driving test, on the highway, and in local residential areas, under close supervision. * Any failure on a list of critical issues would immediately result in a total failure to pass the examination. * I would be tested multiple times on minor issues, regardless of whether or not I failed on any of them. * A passing score of no more than 20 minor failures was required. * In addition, I was questioned on my knowledge of how to operate the vehicle that I was driving. Note: The DMV person knew more about how my vehicle operated than I did. * My physicians had recommended that i be restricted to only driving during daylight hours and to only a 2-year extension of my license. NOTE: It could be more restrictive. I PASSED WITH ONLY 10 MINOR FAILURES! THE RECOMMENDED RESTRICTIONS WERE ACCEPTED. I AM SO THNKFULE. I do not know how I would have survived with a total loss. Although, in most months I do not drive more than 10 miles. My wife is more restrictive.2 points -

Many years ago, I reported to the police an old acquaintance who was involved in the heroin trade. I felt a bit guilty for betraying him, so I told him what I had done. One evening, I was walking along a dark street and a carload of guys. with him in the car, drove by real slow, taking a look at me. I reached into the pocket of the oversize coat I was wearing; they drove away. Bluffing might be option when dealing with potential or actual drive by shooters. I was lucky that night.2 points -

Season 1 Eps 4 Eden
phkrause reacted to Dr. Shane for a topic
Simon looked to self to resolve his problem while Eden looked to God. Simon went out to the sea alone to fish all night. Eden prayed and sought help from the community. God is a resource for His people. God also works through the family of faith to provide for His children. Eusebius cites Clement that Simon Peter watched his wife be taken to execution shortly before he was executed. Peter is said to have rejoiced that she was faithful until death and encouraged her by telling her to remember the Lord. We know that most of what we watch in The Chosen is added by its writers and is not directly from the Bible. The lessons being taught is what we look to as Biblical. In this episode, Eden's faith is contrast against Simon's self-sufficiency. In the end, we see God answered Eden's prayers.1 point -

From the article: I broke a bone in January. After 2 weeks it was not healing very well. I started taking Collagen supplement every day. 5 weeks later it was healed perfect. If someone has a problem with bones, I would recommend: Calcium and K2. K2 drives the calcium into the bones. Magnesium Collagen or Collegen Peptides. Greens vegetables of a supplement like DIM. Multivitamin.1 point -

I am not employed by a conference or mission. But I hold evangelistic meetings. Later this year I will start a new set of meetings. Evolution VS Creation. SDA Mission & Ministry
phkrause reacted to Asia Joe for a topic
This is common throughout the world. The church members have no common purpose. In churches where they know their mission, there is no growth problem. Once, after many months, I convince a district pastor with 12 churches, the importance of community service as a mission. Then his wife was transferred to another island and he went with her. Churches without a mission, stumble along. It is not a simple thing to get the local church into mission mode.1 point -

Compairing yourself to others.
phkrause reacted to Asia Joe for a topic
Psychologists tell us we should not compare our self to others. However, I have been doing it for years. I was often concerned how long I would live and looked to my fathers health and my brother. Both are dead now for a while. I am the only Adventist in the family. Now in my Seventies, I think about my brothers health and my father's health at my current age. Both of them were sick and going down hill. My brother, a smoker until death was wheelchair bound by this age. I praise God for my great health and for the Adventist message that placed such a focus on health. The difference between me and them is astonishing. I continue to learn how to be a healthier person. I continue to make lifestyle changes to become healthier. If I compare my Adventist lifestyle to others (Americans) I know who are non Adventists, I can see a huge difference. The blue zone is not about a location, It's about a lifestyle and the blessing from God.1 point -
Seventh Day Adventist Clinic receives $134,000 FEMA hazard mitigation grant - Guam
phkrause reacted to Asia Joe for a topic
The Seventh Day Adventist Clinic in Tamuning received a $134,000 Federal Emergency Management Agency hazard mitigation grant, the Office of the Governor said in a media release. The clinic is a critical facility in the island's health care infrastructure and will get a long-term electrical upgrade to help keep it up and running in times of emergency, Adelup said. The Guam Recovery Office said the assessment and design work for the installation of a generator and air conditioning upgrades at the Seventh Day Adventist Clinic in Tamuning will be funded through a FEMA hazard mitigation grant of $134,000. These upgrades are designed to strengthen the clinic’s ability to remain operational during typhoons and other emergencies—when access to medical care is most critical, Adelup said. This project is the first in a series of mitigation investments to move into implementation, signaling continued progress in Guam’s long-term resilience strategy. Additional mitigation projects are currently in development, focused on protecting essential infrastructure and reducing future disaster risks, the governor's office said. “As we saw during Super Typhoon Sinlaku, strengthening our health care infrastructure is not optional, it is essential,” said Acting Governor Joshua Tenorio in a statement. “This first Hazard Mitigation award reflects our commitment to strengthening critical facilities and ensuring continuity of care when it matters most. Through our partnership with FEMA, we are making targeted investments that build a more resilient and prepared Guam.” This project is especially important because Adventist Medical Clinic serves as a critical medical facility for Guam. Following storms, typhoons, and other hazard events, the clinic helps provide additional post-disaster medical care and reduces pressure on the island’s hospitals when demand for health services is highest, Adelup said. FEMA is currently on-island conducting a series of technical assistance sessions with government of Guam agencies and sub-applicants. These working sessions are focused on accelerating project development, ensuring compliance with federal requirements, and advancing additional mitigation projects, Adelup said. https://www.guampdn.com/news/seventh-day-adventist-clinic-receives-134-000-fema-hazard-mitigation-grant/article_94cabeba-23f7-48d0-a2ba-cb4fcc073012.html1 point -

Keep in mind that the central purpose of Club Adventist is to provide a place for people of differing views to discuss them in a civil manner. This generally involves a comparison of differing views. So, yes, we do address LGBTQ issues. However, we do ask that such discussion do not use adverse language in reference to such people. God loves all persons including LGBTQ people. On a personal basis, I am probably a bit more conservative than you might think. I welcome civil discussion here on all issues.1 point -
