Ellen Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 I believe we are told that there have been sabbath keepers throughout history right from creation. Some went underground. Where would this writer be located? Quote

Stan Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 The original King James Version also had those letters, as did early US Congress documents. Many where killed when they updated the King James, as trying to change God's Word. I suspect they were not Liberals who did he killings. pindoc Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Stan, thank you! that's amazing. can hardly wait to print it off and read the whole thing. speaking of old books, I've been reading Ben Franklin's autobiography. it's free in Amazon's Kindle store. don't have a Kindle, but I have the Kindle app on my phone. the insights into our founders' thinking, and some positive and negative traditions that came from the Quakers, all of it's fascinating. I would put my hand up to help transcribe a chapter or two. (currently deciphering it with my husband). jen516 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I found this book a couple months ago while writing a college paper on how Sunday became the christian worship day. I attend a secular community college, and I got a perfect score on my paper and that is one of the documents I cited in it. I was amazed to find it too! Quote *~Jenniƒer~*
Stan Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Jen You came across the actual book? It would be nice to get better shots of this, and actually print it. Sometimes it can be so refreshing to see others, not related to adventist come up with similar viewpoints. Stan Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 Quote: Dr. Samuel Kohn, chief Rabbi of Budapest, Hungary, in a recent work (Sabbatarians in Transylvania, 1894, pp. 8, 9), says, "In Bohemia Sabbatarians sprung up as early as 1520. Such Sabbatarians, or similar sects, we meet about 1545 among the Quakers in England. Several leaders and preachers of the Puritans have re-transferred the rest day from Sunday to Saturday; and the Christian Jews who arose in England and partly emigrated to Germany, and settled near Heidelberg, believed, indeed, in Jesus, but they also celebrated the Sabbath and regarded the Jewish laws in reference to meats and drinks." -- Idem, p. 38.(Dugger, Andrew N. and Dodd, Clarence O, The History of the True Religion, 1968, Jerusalem, pp. 237-8) Sabbath keeping quakers? go figure :) LifeHiscost 1 Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com

aldona Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Quote: Sabbath keeping quakers? go figure that's me all right You mean I'm not the only one? Are there any of them left? Where do I go to find a Sabbath-keeping Quaker Meeting? I read somewhere that Benjamin Franklin identified himself as a Sabbath-keeping Quaker at one stage. Don't know if that's true or not.
