bonnie Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Obama Praises Muslim Cleric Who Backed Fatwa on Killing of U.S. Soldiers Controversial cleric gets nod in Obama’s speech at the United Nations SHARE TWEET EMAIL President Barack Obama addresses the United Nations General Assembly / AP BY: Adam Kredo September 24, 2014 1:40 pm President Barack Obama favorably quoted and praised on Wednesday in his speech before the United Nations a controversial Muslim cleric whose organization has reportedly endorsed the terror group Hamas and supported a fatwa condoning the murder of U.S. soldiers in Iraq. Obama in his remarks offered praise to controversial cleric Sheikh Abdallah Bin Bayyah and referred to him as a moderate Muslim leader who can help combat the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s (ISIL or ISIS) radical ideology. However, Bin Bayyah himself has long been engulfed in controversy for many of his views, including the reported backing of a 2004 fatwathat advocated violent resistance against Americans fighting in Iraq. This is not the first time that the Obama administration has extoled Bin Bayyah, who also has served as the vice president of a Muslim scholars group founded by a radical Muslim Brotherhood leader who has called “for the death of Jews and Americans,” according to Fox News and other reports. The State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau (CT) was forced to issue multiple apologies earlier this year after the Washington Free Beaconreported on its promotion of Bin Bayyah on Twitter. “This should not have been tweeted and has since been deleted,” the CT Bureau tweeted at the time after many expressed anger over the original endorsement of Bin Bayyah. However, it appears that Obama and the White House are still supportive of Bin Bayyah, who, despite his past statements, is still hailed by some as a moderate alternative to ISIL and al Qaeda. “The ideology of ISIL or al Qaeda or Boko Haram will wilt and die if it is consistently exposed, confronted, and refuted in the light of day,” Obama said before the U.N., according to a White House transcript of his remarks. “Look at the new Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies—Sheikh bin Bayyah described its purpose: ‘We must declare war on war, so the outcome will be peace upon peace,’” Obama said, quoting the controversial cleric. Concern over the administration’s relationship with Bin Bayyah started as early as 2013, when outrage ensued after he was reported to have metwith Obama’s National Security Council staff at the White House. While Bin Bayyah has condemned the actions of groups such as Boko Haram and ISIL, he also has taken controversial positions against Israel. He issued in 2009 a fatwa “barring ‘all forms of normalization’ with Israel,” according to a Fox report on the White House meeting. Additionally, the notorious 2004 fatwa permitting armed resistance against U.S. military personnel in Iraq reportedly stated that “resisting occupation troops” is a “duty” for all Muslims, according to reports about the edict. Patrick Poole, a reporter and terrorism analyst who has long tracked Bin Bayyah, expressed shock that the Obama administration would endorse the cleric on the world stage. “It is simply amazing that just a few months ago the State Department had to publicly apologize for tweeting out it’s support for Bin Bayyah, only to have Barack Obama go before the leaders of the entire world and publicly endorse Bin Bayyah’s efforts,” Poole said. “It seems that nothing can stop this administration’s determination to rehabilitate Bin Bayyah’s image, transforming him from the Islamic cleric who issued the fatwa to kill Americans in Iraq and calling for the death of Jews to the de facto White House Islamic mufti,” he said. This type of mentality has contributed to the administration’s foreign policy failures in the region,” Poole said. “This is a snapshot of why this administration’s foreign policy in the Middle East is a complete catastrophe,” he said. “The keystone of their policy has been that so-called ‘moderate Islamists’ were going to be the great counter to al Qaeda. But if you take less than 30 seconds to do a Google search on any of these ‘moderate Islamists,’ you immediately find they are just a degree or two from the most hardcore jihadis and have little to no difference when it comes to condoning violence.” A White House official said that the president’s remarks speak for themselves and declined to add anything further. Aliensanctuary Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 We shouldn't be too surprised, given the clues, that the current government of the USA will be overthrown or annihilated with the permission of a select few who will be in a safe place when that occurs. The Caliphate of America might be a good name for a government based on Sharia law. We might note the support of Muslim ideology in American textbooks and classes while Christianity and Judaism are suppressed or vilified. We might note the likelihood of assassins, suicide bombers, and a revolutionary army entering through an intentionally porous border with Mexico. We might note the support of our commander-in-chief of certain Islamic leaders, and his obscene failure to destroy ISIS, possessing a rather small army of around 30,000 while in a matter of months a previous president conquered a nation possessing an army of around 600,000. We might note the intentional use of the "race card" during the recent events of young black men attacking police and getting killed. The pimps of black vs white have stoked the fires of racism by portraying the attackers as victims of law enforcement officers, not as criminals. The current outcry against police "brutality" towards lawbreakers will be laughable when compared with the horrific brutality of Islamic ideologists towards any who refuse to bow the knee and acknowledge Allah as the one true god and Mohammed as his prophet once America the Free is no more. Once the USA no longer supports the only democracy in the Mideast, Israel will be overrun by hordes of fanatical killers who shriek with delight at the number of Jewish heads in their decapitation collection. I do recommend that everyone see the movie "2016." Whether Obama is a Muslim or not really was not the focus of the topic. It would be hard to deny that he has strong sympathetic feelings towards the Muslim faith. Apparently the truth is irrelevant as long as the slur can be made to stick. A lot of people do believe Obama to be a Muslim. I don't think he is,at least not a practicing one. He has shown to have strong sympathetic leanings towards some Muslims of questionable backgrounds. Obama has stated he is a christian. Christian is a pretty generic term meaning a deep faith in Christ to believing He is out there somewhere and if He doesn't bother them to much they won't bother Him. Moderators Bravus Posted January 13, 2015 Moderators Posted January 13, 2015 I'm still checking, but Abdallah Bin Abayah is a member of the International Union of Islamic Scholars, and the fatwa in question was issued by the International Association of Muslim Scholars. Unless the two similarly-named organisations are exactly the same organisation, the whole story in the OP is based on a misunderstanding (at best) or misdirection (at worst). Aliensanctuary Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 I think it would not be impossible for the US Govt. to be overthrown in a Paris-style assault by several dozen well-armed fanatical Islamists. First, surround the House of Representatives, Senate, and Pentagon, then enter with guns and bombs blazing, killing everyone in sight. Likewise, assault teams attack state capitols and murder every politician they can. Also, the financial backbone of the country must be eliminated, the power grids, telephones, and gas lines shut down, and transportation halted by blocking all major highways. Final step, declare that the US is now an Islamic state where anyone opposing the new government will be executed. Entering the country during this time are many thousands of Islamic warriors, intent on murdering as many people as possible. With its head cut off, our military machine will be next to useless with the loss of communications. Militant Islam, much like the 4th Beast of the Apocalypse, cares nothing for civilization and humanity because its master hates humans, especially followers of YHVH. His interview with George Stephanopolous where Obama makes a "my Muslim faith" slip of the tongue did not help matters (which ever way one wants to argue that slip)...neither does his reciting the Muslim call to prayer in a reportedly first-class Arabic accent, a prayer he claimed to be the "sweetest sound on earth". People question how he obtained such an accent from being schooled away from Arabic and Muslim influences... One thing I do know, though, is that no CiC (that would be Commander in Chief, for those living in Rio Linda...) with any integrity would praise anyone who supports slaying the very troops under his command. This is less than honorable. It borders on treason. It is one thing to have a professional respect for a commander on an opposing side...quite another to heep praise upon people who have declared your people to be their enemy. People wonder why Obama is viewed so negatively by his own troops? Every time he addresses the troops, it is mostly stony silence where with past presidents there would be applause and cheering. The military knows their own CiC sides with an enemy who declared war on the USA decades ago. Blessings, though... In the End, though, things do not end well for the followers of the 4th Beast. Given the current circumstances, that could be noted as a plausible scenario. However, for "the Gospel to go to all the world, then the end come" (Matthew 24:14; Mark 13:10), the lands that are now closed to the Gospel must open up (aka, Communist and Islamic controlled countries). I do think it will be the inadvertent consequence of the work of the earth and sea beasts which will allow this. Islam won't be stamped out of existence...but its power will remain broken. God broke it back in 1840, and it will not rise to dominance again. Even so, "lift up your heads, for your redemption draws nigh". bonnie Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Just one of the foolish falsehoods... http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslimfaith.asp Just a little curious why the verbal smack upside the head for the post by T.O. Given the many admonitions by "some" to respond in a civil manner it seems a little harsh without cause. What in his post is "foolish falsehood" and rumor mongering" Please point out the falsehoods that were posted. His interview with George Stephanopolous where Obama makes a "my Muslim faith" slip of the tongue did not help matters (which ever way one wants to argue that slip)... Responding with "my Muslim faith" is an odd way to phrase his response in the opinion of many. The rest of the underlined is not a fabrication. I seriously doubt if he is Muslim but he certainly has sympathetic leanings to Islam that he does not appear to have for Christianity. I can't imagine the sarcastic remark as "they cling to their Koran"as the comment on Christians clinging to their bibles and guns neither does his reciting the Muslim call to prayer in a reportedly first-class Arabic accent, a prayer he claimed to be the "sweetest sound on earth". People question how he obtained such an accent from being schooled away from Arabic and Muslim influences... Ted Oplinger Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 True. The truth matters. So why follow an "I don't know" with a bunch of unsubstantiated and fabricated rumor mongering if you don't know! I am replying, Tom, because it seems you neither read nor comprehended what I wrote a week ago. You read what you wanted to read. Perhaps you thought you were being light-hearted or funny. It did not succeed in that. Yes, Tom, truth does matter. Truthfulness and credibility are indeed in short supply these days, Tom. I find most outlets do not have much of either - and neither do their detractors. News outlets, polls and "fact-checking" sites are bought and sold for a price, Tom. Case in point: two big news anchors, for 2 different big-boy networks, caught fabricating news for personal agendas. The twelve year separation between the two indicates to me we are dealing with industry-wide habits, not anomalous instances. These men felt they had to fabricate what they did to achieve their goals...and, no doubt, their subordinates are following their example doing the exact same thing. And Snopes relies on that industry for its "facts"? Getting back to my post... I posed two contrasting arguments side by side, linked together at the start with my "I don't know" comment - what he is reported to be by his supporters vs. what he is reported to be by his detractors. I contrasted that debate with what I do know to be true. Sad that you chose not to pick up on that writing style. Are you saying that Obama's profession of "Christianity" is mere fabrication and rumor mongering? Yet that was the very first thing I led with...and yes, I put "Christianity" in quotes, for a reason - because it is a profession. And yes, I have done the same in the theology disputes in the theology town hall, where "points" are tenuously or questionably held. Are you saying that the fact that many people are attributing to him a "Muslim" prejudicial favoritism, is merely unsubstantiated rumor? Sorry, Tom, but yes, it is well documented that many people are doing just that. Are you saying his slip of the tongue of "my Muslin faith" is fabricated and unsubstantiated...even though I can drop several different, viable links to show the comment was indeed made, in context it was made, as well as the big explanation Obama made about same in a second interview? The comment was very real, it is very well-documented...and as I stated my above post, the comment only added to his detractors doubts and emotions. That was rumor-mongering? Sorry again, but that is substantiated fact. Presidential and journalistic talk failed to move significant numbers of the American people because of that very important "credibility" thing. You lost me, Tom. The "verbal smack up side the head" (as Bonnie phrased it with curiosity) is duly noted. Moderators lazarus Posted February 10, 2015 Moderators Posted February 10, 2015 My immediately previous post of a link to a YouTube video seems to be an edited version of this one: From the YouTube description: But how can the American people elect a Muslim for President right after the tragic events of 9/11? Electing a Muslim to the White House right after 9/11, is the equivalent to electing a Nazi for President right after the holocaust. Every American should realize that electing a Muslim for President is a direct insult to the victims of 9/11, and is tantamount to spitting on their still smoldering graves. This is ridiculous. This bigot would therefore argue that no Muslim should be in congress, a governor, or a state legislator. There should be no Muslims in the armed services, police force etc. The 9/11 hijackers were Muslim therefore every Muslim is a terrorist. Sadly, some people believe this nasty stuff. Aliensanctuary Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 As a Muslim president, Mr. Obama may not be very Christian or Jewish friendly, as he already seems to have demonstrated in his administration. As we have seen in a number of other countries around the world, Islam is not exactly benign. There is trouble ahead for America, perhaps even a civil war between a pro-Islam government and those who are repulsed by that death-loving religion created by a solitary, flawed human. Only by following the teachings of Christ can humanity, and the world, be saved. Islam cannot save the world. It can only create slavery, sorrow, death, and destruction. Of course, we can always go back many hundreds of years to find men professing a "Christian" religion warring against Islamic usurpers in the Holy Land. That, of course, will justify today's Islamic extremist atrocities and persecution against Christians, Jews, atheists, and moderate Muslims. It's the perfect excuse. Obviously, it's the Christian's (who lived many hundreds of years ago) fault that radical Muslims today are kidnaping, raping, enslaving, beheading, and murdering better men, women, and children than they are. Not to worry, Islam will likely play a key role in the Last Days where the followers of YHVH are beheaded for their faith. Fortunately, those who have had their heads cut off because of their loyalty to YHVH will be safe, but not so for those who have killed them...who, among others, are the ones who will weep and wail and gnash their teeth when they at last realize that they joined the wrong side and fought against YHVH and the people he loves.
