Johann Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 Almost anything can happen as I have experienced at the five GC sessions I have attended, but only one as an official delegate. What I have learned is that not everything is fair and democratic, because Mammon has a great impact on our World Church. Members of a nominating committee might be told that if they nominate X candidate certain wealthy members will grant so many million dollars for certain projects, but their grants will go somewhere else if Y candidate is nominated. Many years ago a vice president rooming with the president pleaded with the president quite a bit of the night to stop this practice, and rather let the Lord guide the church and pray that tithes and free will offerings would be a greater blessing if utilized in the right way. The president could see the problem but was not prepared to change the unofficial Mammon system which has been ruling our church - and many TV programs - for a long time. When will we have a General Conference session that is not ruled by Mammon? Mammon is a male dominated system which they fear will be lost if honest women gain more power in the church. Quote
The Searcher Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Mammam is a problem for both sexes. The problem will not go away because a woman takes office. In fact a new set of problems will be added. Lauralea 1 Quote
