November 11th, some personal thoughts

When I think about November 11, I think about Newfoundland, I am not sure any Country paid a higher price then she did.

Almost every household or family lost at least one person. It was such a tragedy that Newfoundland was exempt from conscription in WW2.

Yet many stood tall and enrolled.

Long live Newfoundland and all her sons and daughters.

God bless all those that have spent time risking their lives that I might be free.

We had a serious talk with our Korean student at supper tonight. No one likes to go to war, but there are times when sacrifices need to be made for peace.

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Just yesterday, I watched a documentary on TBN about Desmond Doss, an SDA Christian who joined the military during WWII as a conscientious objector who refused to carry any weapons of war to protect his own or others interests, as a result of his personal belief it was contrary to God's desire for him. During his tour of duty he performed services that were responsible for the saving of 75 desperate and wounded men on the battle field, from both sides of the conflict.

He became the only conscientious objector in history to receive the U. S. medal of honor for meritorious duty under enemy fire.

Can you imagine the reward he'll receive from the King of kings when Jesus returns? Desmond is a perfect example of one who took God at His Word and the multiplled hundreds of thousands who have seen his life story and been motivated to trust in God because of his example will never be known until we/he get to heaven..

28"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29"Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.…Matt 10

BTW it was noted that if one went to TBNs program schedule they would be able to find where the Doss documentary would be scheduled today.

I'm of the opinion that some of the most horrendous crimes of human history have been perpetrated as a result of accepting killing as a solution to the problems of the human race, whether on an individual level or corporately. The solution to the problems?

43"You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR and hate your enemy.' 44"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.…emphasis theirs' LHC
