For Neil...

I am not sure who on here is friends with NeilD, but as you may or may not be aware, he has been sick for a few years now with a type of liver cancer.

Today he posted a heartfelt message about dying on Facebook, just some of his thoughts. 3 of us who are his FB friends have responded.

It would be nice at this point if we who think of him and remember him from Clubadventist could also express some encouraging words.

I am sad to hear this news. My prayers are with Neil and his family as they go through this horrible chapter of their lives.

Gail, please tell Neil I'm praying for him.    I don't "do" Facebook, so I hadn't heard about his illness.   Liver cancer is a terrible thing.   Hopefully the doctors will be able to treat it so as to give him back his health.   Don't despair, Neil.   God is with you.   We all are facing Christ's return, when all sickness will be abolished forever.  It won't be long now.

He has been chronicling his journey, often with amazing positivity and humor, sometimes understandably discouraged, often thoughtful. He stopped by our place last summer while traveling through. He was feeling good at the time, on a break between treatments, and looked great. It was great to have a short visit, longer would have been nice. I don't think he ever sits still for long if he has anything to say about it.

Yep, a few of us are keeping in touch. We're in this together, as together as we can be, I guess!

Yes, please tell him I'm thinking of him too.   And praying for his improvement.

As for myself, I don't fear death.   It's the dying process which I fear.   Hopefully he can have some medical or hospice care to ease things for him.

Gail,

I couldn't see the FB post you are talking about. Can you PM me? I've responded to other posts before but I can't see this one. It was fun to meet and get to know Neil a couple of years ago when we hung out at bit in Baltimore.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Yes, he  knows quite a few of us personally. I'm sure he could use some visits now and some support  :)
