Pope: Catholics need not breed 'like rabbits'

Recommended Posts

Pope Francis, after a visit to the largest Catholic nation in Asia, says Catholics may have a moral responsibility to limit the number of their children and need not reproduce "like rabbits.''

But the pope also reaffirmed the church's ban on artificial means of birth control and said Catholics should practice "responsible parenting."

His comments on the subject of birth control, made aboard the papal jet returning to Rome from the Philippines, were described as apparently unprecedented by the National Catholic Reporter, an independent news organization that follows the Vatican.

Francis said there are plenty of church-approved ways to regulate births. He also said no outside institution should impose its views on regulating family size, blasting what he called "ideological colonization" of the developing world.

African bishops have long complained that Western ideas about birth control and gay rights are being imposed on the developing world by groups, institutions or nations, often as a condition for development aid.

The "Vicar of Jesus" as they call him in the press here, does not sound like Jesus of the bible.

Let me see.   He says Catholics don't have to multiply like rabbits but can't use artificial methods such as condoms, IUDs, no coitus interruptus or pills. They are in denial that couples who use just the rhythm method are called parents.  When I left the Philippines in 1956, there were about 23 million people, now there are over 100 million!!!  And the land size of the country did not get any bigger. At that same rate, they will be up to 400 million in another 60 years!!!

Can we please get off of the Catholic- and pope-bashing here?  There might actually be a Catholic or 2 that visit (or used to visit before the bashing started) this website.  Let's build up the strengths of our own faith rather than tear down the supposed weaknesses of someone else's faith.  Jesus never meant for us to form denominations anyways.

Besides one being a male and one being a female; and one being already dead while the other is still alive, what is the difference between how many SDA's view EGW and how many Catholics view the Pope?  I see very little.  Is this epidemic of catholic and pope-bashing a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

I am not trying to bash the Catholics.  Just stating facts.

This is to anyone:

Was Christ bashing the Jews when He came down on the Scribes and Pharisees? See Matt chapter 23 for example.  Was Paul bashing his own people too?  See Phil 3:2,3; Acts 23:3; Gal 5:12.  There are a lot more verses then what I've given....

Was John the Revelator bashing "the beast" whose wound had been healed? See Rev 17:1-5 for example.

Folks, we need not water down these truths....They are warning placed there for a purpose. Not to warn is to be deceived.

Yes, rhetoric and name calling might be a bit much, but then again have you ever read Luther on the Papacy?  Read his commentaries on Galatians. http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/text/wittenberg/luther/gal/web/gal-inx.html Ellen White had nothing but praise for this man of God.

1) The last three popes have been positioning themselves to be the world leader in religion. All three have said that we need a new world order and, that world government needs a religious leader rather than a political leader. Go research that for yourself.

2) Almost all the Protestant churches have stopped talking about the papal system in prophecy. The Seventh-day Adventist church is one of the few churches in the world, that hold to the teaching of over 100 years, that the Bible carefully reveals the Papal system in prophecy.

3) I think we need to be honest with members of the Catholic Church. We should not HIDE our teachings from them.

4) When Pope Francis one of the current Popes, makes a statement like there is a limit to freedom of speech, every religious person should take notice.

5) What is the purpose of Protestantism? It is to protest the papal system.

Why not focus on Jesus instead?

I really do think we have Adventist brothers and sisters who spend more time Pope watching than they do focusing on the Lamb.  (Revelation describes the saints as those that follow the Lamb wherever he goes.  Others follow the imposters...)

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

6) The quote by African church leaders, that Western ideas are being imposed upon them, is very relevant. This is the method of the Vatican has used for over 1000 years. Here we have the Pope making a very strong statement (Some here were deeply offended) about the number of children that family should have. This is also anti-biblical.

7) There is a movement by eugenics people, to limit the number of people on the planet , through birth control, abortions, sterilizations ( both voluntary and forced).  This depopulation agenda is finally coming out in public.  http://explosivereports.com/2012/08/14/read-it-and-weep-how-obamas-science-advisor-john-p-holdren-values-life/

Supports my point regarding the "who" that we should be watch for...

Watch for your Master to return.  Too many are spending all their time watching for their neighbor's master and not their own.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

Good thought, but do we not have a responsibility to point others to the Lamb who are focussed on someone else?

And that is what I am trying to do...

It seems that many Adventists pay more attention to the Pope that those who are Catholics.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

5) What is the purpose of Protestantism? It is to protest the papal system.

Most Protestants do not know what their name implies....They have no idea it means to "protest" Roman.  After all "by him (Roman) the daily was taken away".  The "daily" (Dan 8:11) is Christ's work as our Great High Priest.  That, according to Daniel, was "cast down to the ground" and in its place another priesthood was setup. The Papacy has tried to impose itself between the believer and Christ.  Luther said such an attempt is "anti-Christ". Hence we are to warn.

Well, we are breaking the rules....I'll start another thread in the appropriate area.  I'll name it "Are Adventists to warn of the coming apostasy?" See
