              I am impressed! The first flipp through was showing me a good variety of articles and pictures.I found ther quality of appearance pleasant. Nothing offensive and (Gott sei dank) nothing that gives our SDA church the stigma of being a sectarish cult group. I couldn't read anything because the print was way too tiny for my brain to scan and comprehend. Then I went a second time through the magazine and banged on the page with the courser maus. Wahlah! it got larger in view and even a slider appeared to give me control over the size of pics and printed matter. Now I understand a  bit of how to manuever back and forth. It was a nice handsome pic of you on the editor's page with a good write-up.     Personally, I like sitting upright and reading from my monitor any magazines. -BTW,,,, don't waste a tear on any American south of your border ever sounding off in a negative way about something pertaining to doctrine, teaching. Or even comparing you to Johnston of R&H of gone-bye days. The Ami's are notorious for being fault-finding, and critical. They didn't leave a drop of mercy on that guy's head after all the attacks leveled at him over the years. Being an editor of any magazine does have it's hazards. Ellen, I am so proud of you and your cheer-leader support of this Forum's main sysop.

 

But we need to be honest and realize he is responsible for the layout and contributions in the Messenger.

Except for the Editor's page he doesn't do any write-ups. Which is alright because every endeavor needs a leader who is freed for organizing the over-view.

 I never used words to say the Ami's have done so in the past to the Canadians publications..

The possibility that it might, perhaps, maybe happen in the future is yet to be seen. But when something is printed contra to established SDAism there might be a small protest.

Anyone who is a veteran reader of a-Tomorrow, ClubA, A-Online, VOAF and some others will admit they were exposed to fightings, arguments, cynical remarks, rude sarcasim, bitter ad homien attacks.

Mostly from Ami's.

The example was found with the way W.Johnston got steamed-rolled over time again and again by those Traditional Orthodox SDA americans writing in the newsletters, online forums, private inbox forums content and public forums about his Review and Herald editorial leadership. I read over the years how they bashed his progressive liberal view and put doubt on his ability to be in his publication position. It all made me sick in seeing such reputation slander. The same went on with Hal Meyers who was one into conspiricy theories a bit too much for many Ami's liking.

 

The bitter bashing of any President of USA is proverbial. Harry Truman was a qualified president. I wish there will be more of his type for the candidency. Sure, I know enough of why the Ami's are discontented with decisions of B.Obama. But it is not changing him with all the constant negative remarks about him.

Where is the Canadian SDA University?

 

Where are the Conferences situated?

 

Do the people speak with dialect in B.C. that is very different to the dialect in the other provinces?

 

Where is the province with the most leafy trees?

 

Do people in Nova Scotia eat mainly fish for lunch or dinner?

 

Why is it said that those from Calgary are rough like cowboys of usa pioneer days?

 

Do all the provinces teach French to the children in the elementry schools?

The Adventist Universicy is in Lacome, Alberta, Canada called Canadian University College.

 

Each Province has a Conference Office except the Maritimes where the office is in Moncton New Brunswick.for NB, NS and PEI

The Canadian Union Conference is in Oshawa Ontario, as well as the Ontario Conference just down the street from the Union office.

 

B C has a very English/British bent but you can hardly tall the difference in their dialect unless they are actually from Britain.

 

The south of all the provinces have leafy trees, I don't think anybody has counted them, but there is a TREE LINE north of which there are actually no trees growing at all because of the climate.

 

There are plenty of fish eaters in Nova Scotia but I know some vegans who live there.  There are teriffic grocery stores in the maritimes which supply everything you could want including fish.

 

Calgary is in Alberta which is the Canadian Texas you could say.  It is famous for the rodeo called the Calgary Stampede and goes for a couple weeks in the summer.  They have  Bull riding and Chuck Wagon races and Calf roping contests, and wear cowboy hats. 

 

All provinces do have a french class in grade school and optional in high school.  THere are all french schools where there is enough french population to support one, and there are also french emersion schools scattered throughout the country, my granddaughter goes to one that teaches french half the day and english the other half. in Ottawa, the capitol of Canada

 

I might add that this is flag day here, which is the anniversarty that our current Canadian flag was voted in with a red maple leaf in the centre and red strips at each side on a white background.

Our city has a few French immersion schools, one secondary French immersion school.

 

There are pockets of francophone settlements in places other than Quebec. Manitoba has many French-speaking people in it; New Brunswick french (think Roch Voisine) is some of the best I have heard. In "best" I mean that the dialect is not as difficult to make out, say, as some parts of Quebec. Roch Voisine speaks both languages without an accent in either.

 

West coast people, especially Vancouverites, are pretty laid-back and friendly. Not long ago I heard an interesting comment, in a French interview on the radio, that stated that it was very difficult to meet a potential mate in the Vancouver area. I can envision that. The people are friendly but not gregarious. They are content to live and let live, I guess.

Not sure your of the same opinion as that indicated above, but as an American, these thoughts below come to mind.

You two are doing that for me what I love the best, namely, learning the internal affairs of another culture.

 

Teaching me about how French permeates the school system cross country is very interesting.

 

Thanks to you both for making an effort to get my questions answered and believe me that I have many more. I'll use this thread to ask about Canada again soon.
