Obama under fire for denying Jordan’s request for drones

A House Armed Services Committee member disclosed Thursday that the Obama administration turned down a request by Jordan’s King Abdullah II this year to purchase Predator surveillance drones.

That became important this week when Jordan began assuming a leadership position in the fight against Islamic State after its members horrifically burned to death a captured Jordanian pilot, according to The Washington Times.

Following the release of video footage depicting the pilot’s murder, Jordan launched a “vengeance strikes” against the terrorists. The drones would have proved especially beneficial by providing accurate targeting data to Jordan’s military.

Knowing that the drones will continue to be critical during hostilities, Rep. Duncan Hunter, a California Republican, is asking that President Obama release drones to Jordan

“The decision to deny the license request should be reversed immediately,” Hunter wrote. “Doing so will provide Jordan critical mission capability in the fight against the Islamic State and ensure Jordan is given every advantage.

Hunter is a reserve United States Marine Corps officer and a veteran of both the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan.

“Jordan has made requests for specific resources, including ammunition,” Hunter said. “Given our mutual interests, and our strong relationship, it’s absolutely critical that we provide Jordan the support needed to defeat the Islamic State.”

Following the king’s visit to the White House this week, Obama promised more aid and loan guarantees to Jordan. But it’s really military assets that are essential to Jordan — not money.

Related to this, but not exactly the same story is how Obama is conducting his "war" on ISIS.  During the first Gulf war the US and it's allies flew 1100 sorties per day against their enemy.  In the second Gulf war they flew 800 sorties a day.  What is Obama doing in his "war on terror"?  Seven sorties per day over a region as large as the state of Kansas.

In other words, he is showing no committment whatsoever to actually defeating ISIS.  Denying the Jordanians access to drones to use against ISIS is just another example of his "do nothing" policy.  He hasn't even come out and praised the Jordanians for stepping up their military campaign.  It's no wonder the "allies" he has in his so-called "war on terror" are doing very little too.  If the big dog shows his heels the little dogs will too.

He won't help the Ukrainians eithers.  All he's ever done is send them MREs.  He won't send them satellite imagery to prove their claims against the Russians and he certainly won't send them the arms they need to defend themselves.  He's an embarrassament to this nation.  All he does is spend us into oblivion.

Mr. Obama, it seems, has a far different agenda than one would expect from a U.S. president. In due time his real agenda will be revealed.

He running the same agenda. GOP'ers would like more bellicose rhetoric but do you want to send 500,000 troops?

Yes his agenda will be, being a former President, and enjoying the rest of his life as all the other former President's are and have!!

Agreed.  His anti-Israel stance and his hatred of Netanyahu combined with his support for Muslims clerics who have issued fatwas against the US are very telling.   Also, his attacks upon the Constitution and the rights of US citizens are far beyond what any other US President has done.  His administration is by far the most closed in US history and he promised the most open one in history.

This is ridiculous.  He's doing nothing while saying he's doing a lot.  As usual the difference between what he says and what he does is huge.  It's just another, If you like your doctor/plan you can keep it/him.  The lies that come out of his mouth are incredible.

BTW, did you know you just committed a huge logical fallacy?  It's called false attribution.  No conservative I've ever heard of has ever called for 500,000 troops.  And no conservative is calling for "more bellicose rhetoric".  What we want is a coherent strategy that shows committment to defeating Islamic terrorism.  However, I'm not surprised by you descent into logical fallacies.  It's just what you do.

Our Creator taught us that we must not bear false witness, that is, we must not lie, while followers of Islam believe that it's OK to lie and kill in order to advance the cause of Islam. The Scriptures also teach us that the Evil One was, and is, a liar and a murderer. We should never be fooled into believing that Allah and YHVH are one and the same.

Mr. Obama has demonstrated his past ability to lie straight-faced in order to fool the electorate, and will continue to do so in the future. He should apply for the position of Antichrist due to his excellent qualifications as an experienced deceiver.

That he would deny Jordan the ability to use drones in aggressively trying to destroy ISIS reveals his hand in the matter. He may end up making a show of force with troops on the ground, which may or may not end badly. In the original conquest of Iraq, one hundred thousand sorties were flown in one month, but in today's "war" against ISIS, maybe seven in a day will take place.

The current situation in the Middle East vaguely reminds me of the pre-WW2. situation in Europe.  Hitler and Germany were rattling sabers and rounding up Jews, while the rest of the world was wringing its hands wondering what to do.  There was much resistance to actually going to full-blown war with Germany.  It wasn't until after the Nazis totally shocked the world through blitzkreig that the world woke up and fought this beast-like power.

The stakes are higher now.  We have another satanic movement called militaristic Islam that is threatening the Middle East (and dare I say the planet) with the same base evil used by the Nazis.  Except these guys will soon have nukes; and could have sophisticated chemical and biological weapons that could be unleashed.  They need to be stopped ASAP.

On the other hand, starting an all-out battle to shut down ISIS and Al-Qaida could unleash the same devastation.

All that being said, the satanic death-cults of ISIS and Al-Qaida cannot be ignored.  Turning our backs on those moderate Muslims in the Middle East who would pour out full fury on the enemy is signing their (and maybe our) death warrants.  Don't fear the papacy; fear Al-Sufyani and Al-Mahti.

As are almost all of them in this political nonsense zone...

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

:offtopic: A HUGE logical fallacy? False attribution? I have a cat and I use her to try things out before I say them in public. :backtopic:

Would you care to set out what you think would be the elements of a coherent strategy. You are right that there are no Conservatives who are suggesting 500K troops. That was the point of my rhetorical question. It was my OPINION that GOP'ers want the President to shout louder. I did not say Conservatives want that.
