Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted April 14, 2015 Moderators Posted April 14, 2015 I took an automobile to my local dealer for some minor work today. While waiting I noticed that the Allstate Insurance had an office inside. I commented on that to one of the insurance person. I was told that this is an experimental program that presently has offices in some 200 automobile dealer locations. People bring their vehicles in for service, kill time while waiting, and are quite willing to talk to an insurance agent. Allstate is ready and willing to sell them any of their financial products. B/W Photodude Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Allstate now ranks low in consumer satisfaction. I was a long time Allstate customer and when my last bill from them came it was phenomenally expensive. I decided to take fifteen minutes to save 15% with Geico and ended up saving over 75% ($2000 a year)! Allstate wasn't going to just sit around for that one. They promptly cancelled my homeowners insurance! Guess I will get to save even more now with Geico! Sorry for the advertisement, but seriously check your rates if you are with Allstate. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted April 14, 2015 Administrators Posted April 14, 2015 I have been with GEICO for quite a few years and have a great appreciation for their customer service. Members phkrause Posted April 14, 2015 Members Posted April 14, 2015 Allstate has a great reputation for canceling policies on people. Back when I graduated from HS, and went to work at FFT, a friend of mine, Elliot Halverson, had his insurance with them. He got a notice from them, which basically told them that they were being cancelled, because they had not had an accident and were due. Have never bother with comparing them to other insurance rates. Even if they were lower, I would not have them cover me. For a while they were not allowed to use there "Your In Good Hands With Allstate" slogan. I have notice that there using it again!! Outta Here Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 My family has been using Allstate for more than 40 years. Never had a problem; no cancelled policies. I guess everyone has different experiences and opinions. Quote
Aliensanctuary Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 A few years back I researched auto insurance prices. Geico and Farmers were high, so 21st Century got our money. Farmers and 21st Century are now owned by the same company. Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted April 15, 2015 Author Moderators Posted April 15, 2015 I have had Allstate, but it was many years ago. For probably 30 years, or so, I have had USAA. My experience with them has been such that just about nothing would cause me to go to a different company. NOTE: USAA is a major (Fortune 500 company) financial institution that operates in many areas. While a few of it products are available to the general public, others of its products are closed to the public and only available to specified people. It presently has a net worth of some 26 billion dollars. USAA ranks 57th in net worth among Fortune 500 companies and 141st for revenue; . . . Quote Gregory
Administrators Naomi Posted April 15, 2015 Administrators Posted April 15, 2015 This appears to have disappeared.. I have had USAA auto, home owners and health & life for more years than I care to remember. They have always been prompt, more than fair, and in general there to serve. Liz Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I can't stand Allstate. We had them last year when we had our wreck, when I called to let them know, they said "Sorry all you have is liability" and hung up on me. Needless to say we had a lot more than liability, and they are dragging their feet with our attorney. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted April 18, 2015 Moderators Posted April 18, 2015 Hmmm... I didn't see any posts regarding State Farm. I don't know how its rates compare with the other companies', but I do know they have great service. I've been with State Farm ever since I first started driving, at age 16 [more than 60 years ago! and when I was living on the East Coast]. I recently had two different times when uninsured motorists ran into me (one when I wasn't even in the car); and both times I caught the driver and turned in his (bogus) information to my insurance company. They traced it down and found the guys had no current coverage. So each time I had the work done on my own Uninsured Motorist coverage. I didn't have to pay any deductible, and the company adjuster agreed with my own body shop in the amount of work needing to be done. The results were that the car looked good as new afterward. [bTW, I'm driving an '06 model, which I bought new.] I have State Farm for all my insurance needs--homeowners, etc. And 25 years ago I lost 42 trees on my property from an arson fire in our neighborhood. All the smoke damage and loss were covered, after the deductible in my homeowners' policy was paid. Liz 1 Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
Members phkrause Posted April 18, 2015 Members Posted April 18, 2015 My family has had State Farm forever, never any problems. Had to change to another insurance company when we first moved to Massachusetts, but when they came back we went right back to them. Stan Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 I had Allstate never again. Had a car stolen, they valued it at something like $5,000. The Allstate rep found one that was a year older, and he wanted $8,000 or something similar. He told me that I needed to bring him down to $5,000. He would not budge on his $8.000 price. Things went down hill from there.
