Scuba Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Jesus came to live and teach the will of His Father, not do away with it. John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. Jesus came to promote His Father's will on to others. Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Some will say that Jesus didn't teach against same sex relationships. Let us go to the Scriptures for our answer to this statement. What does the will of the Father say about homosexuality? Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. The will of the Father says male and female are meant for each other, not men with men or woman with woman. Did Jesus confirm this? Yes He did. Mark 10:6-9 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” Did Paul promote the will of the Father? Yes He did! Acts 20:26-27 Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of any of you. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. What did Paul teach regarding homosexuality? 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. So we can see from the Scriptures that Jesus did in fact teach that man and woman were created to be together, not man with man or woman with woman. We must also understand that temptation is not sin because we know Jesus was tempted in all areas just like we are and yet He was without sin. Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Temptation is when we desire to do things that are against the will of the Father. What if we give in to a temptation? First of all it's not what if we give in to temptation, but rather, when we give in to temptation. When we fall into sin, as a child of God, it will bring conviction and conviction will lead to confession and confession cleanses the soul. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 2:1-3 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. The problem today is not the fact that we fall into sin, the problem is that we are not calling sin sinful. We have come to the point in life were evil is good and good is evil. Isaiah 5:20-21 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Remember, God calling something sin is not what makes it sinful, it's sinful because it distorts morality, destroys life and ruins relationships so God calls it sin. Even if God didn't judge sin, sin would still carry these consequences. When Jesus comes back He is coming to remove all things that cause people to sin and all those who practice a lifestyle of sin. Matthew 13:41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. God, at this very moment, is preparing a people for this day. Quote Sometimes our behavior needs time to catch up to our salvation...
Robert Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) Jimmy says that he has a problem with murder (as in abortion), but not gay marriage. Isn't that a bit strange? I mean if you are going to go with the legal definition of sin then homosexual acts are also sin. Let's look at Gal 5:19 "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery.." Sexual immorality is simply sex outside marriage. Living together isn't love and commitment. rather it's a quick way out if things go badly and that means that you get to keep your $$$. So it's not based in agape, but the love of self. It's selfishness (sin), not commitment. Impurity has to do with sexual acts such as sodomy, sex during a woman's period, etc. These go against cleanliness and health and hence they bring disease. Debauchery, orgies, are extreme indulgence in sensuality. So these sexual sins apply both to heterosexual and homosexual couples. Now here's a question: Is Jesus okay with such sins? According to Paul "those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God" Gal 5:21 Is Paul calling us to perfection? No! To practice the above sins doesn't mean that one doesn't have besetting, habitual problems. Struggling and failing is not practicing sin. Practicing sin is: 1] Redefining these sins not to be sin and 2] therefore living these sins openly as a legitimate lifestyle. Those who condone and practice sin are rejecting the law's definition of sin and therefore they do not need a Savior. That's the issue. If nothing is sin then there's no need of Christ's righteousness. Edited July 12, 2015 by Robert Quote

Robert Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) Now here's a question: Is Jesus okay with such sins? Now here's a question: Is Jesus okay with such sins (sexual sins)? John 8:3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone (condemn to death according to the justice of the law) such women. Now what do you say?" 6 They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. The Pharisees knew that under law the penalty for sin (any sin) was death. So they were attempting to trap Christ. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." The sin Jesus is speaking of is "adultery". If any of you Pharisees are without this sin, then stone her according to the law. Did they hurl stones at her? No! Why? 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground (their sins?). 9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. So "no", they didn't kill her according to the law. Why? Because they too were committing adultery (even perhaps with her). That's why Paul states in Romans 3:1 "You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things." Now back to the question: "Is Jesus okay with such sins (sexual sins)?" 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her,"Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?" 11 "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and enjoy your life of adultery" J Is that what Christ said? No!!! He said go now and leave your life of adultery. Jesus wasn't calling her to perfection. Jesus doesn't overwhelm us. If He did we would have never been delivered from under law. The point is Jesus does not call us to sexual impurity, including homosexual acts, but rather away from these sins. So Jimmy needs to re-read his Bible instead of going the way of the world and its comprise with sin. Edited July 12, 2015 by Robert Quote
Robert Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 (edited) What does the will of the Father say about homosexuality? Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. What you have quoted is the demands of the law. Yes, the Father's will is that we do not sin, but we know that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". Romans 3:23. Under law you sin you die not only for homosexual acts, but adultery, eating pork, gathering firewood on the Sabbath, etc. In other words under law you sin any sin (even sins at the thought level) you die. The law demand perfection. Failure brings the curse. We have been delivered from under law (see Romans 7:6) because no one is measuring up to Christ's agape love. Yet we are not to condone and practice sin. Here's Paul: Romans 7:6 But now, by dying to what once bound us (the law), we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code (i.e., obey and live, disobey and die). Robert Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 Romans 7:6 But now, by dying to what once bound us (the law), we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code (i.e., obey and live, disobey and die). 2 Cor 13:7 Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone (the law), came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, fading though it was, 8 will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? 9 If the ministry that condemns men (the Old Covenant) is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 10 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. 11 And if what was fading away came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts! 12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. 13 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites from gazing at it while the radiance was fading away. 14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses (the Old Covenant) is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Administrators Gail Posted July 12, 2015 Administrators Posted July 12, 2015 Jimmy Carter has made some changes to his spirituality, it seems. Last night I read an interview with him where he said that he parted ways with the Southern Baptist denomination over its attitude toward women. Because of his advanced age he may be finding himself where Solomon was when he admitted that, "all is vanity." And because he is so old he has earned the right to say whatever he wants Old people do anyway. Jesus saves! Life, your quote is not about willful sins against the law, but the sin of unbelief in rejecting Christ, i.e., premeditated apostasy. Notice the highlighted portions: Heb 10:14 (NKJV) By that will (context: by Christ's doing and dying) we have been sanctified (past tense) through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. So "in Christ" we have been set apart. In Him we are complete. As long as your faith remains in Christ you have eternal life, period. But if you apostatize (sin willfully) you can kiss heaven goodbye. 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth (i.e., we are complete in Christ), there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God (not the law) underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified (see verse 14) a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? Robert Posted July 12, 2015 Author Posted July 12, 2015 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God (not the law) underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified (see verse 14) a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? You see rejecting your position "in Christ" is willful sin! It's "trampling" under your feet the gospel and treating it like something common. If a believer commits this sin (apostasy) he is forever lost. He has hardened his heart permanently. That's why Paul gives the following warnings: Heb 6:4 For how can those who abandon their faith be brought back to repent again? They were once in God's light; they tasted heaven's gift and received their share of the Holy Spirit; 5 they knew from experience that God's word is good, and they had felt the powers of the coming age. 6 And then they abandoned their faith! It is impossible to bring them back to repent again, because they are again crucifying the Son of God and exposing him to public shame. Heb 3:12 My friends, be careful that none of you have a heart so evil and unbelieving that you will turn away from the living God. 13 Instead, in order that none of you be deceived by sin and become stubborn, you must help one another every day, as long as the word "Today" in the scripture applies to us. 14 For we are all partners with Christ if we hold firmly to the end the confidence we had at the beginning.
