It would be different if she was say forced to drink it, or if someone was forced to marry someone of the same sex.

The woman sent to jail  for the marriage license mess was in the wrong. I said that from the beginning. I  don't fault her for her decision,I am not her conscience and do not know if she is a hypocrite. Judging from what she gave up and is willing to do at least for the near future my guess would be it was a sincerely held belief.

But the stewardess doesn't   think at times you will have to choose between your religious convictions and her job

The stewardess knew what the job required. She had no business accepting a position where others would have to do her job and now suing when she was faced with termination

Double standard much? The below examples are a testament to how much one political agenda is favored over another. In fact, the Obama Administration has told officials over and over that if they consider a state law unjust, they don’t have to enforce it or even recognize it. That is why these officials have gotten away with breaking state laws and not following the will of their constituents. But when a clerk stands on her religious principles guaranteed under the Constitution, well… we can’t have that going on. That’s lawless! Back a number of years ago, after I got laid off, I took the USPS examine and passed. I was called to my first interview and they asked me some questions. During the interview I found out that the only job available was to work on Sabbath for one year, taking over for mail carriers when they need a day off, etc., I had to interrupt the interview and told them that I did not and would not work on Sabbath. He than stopped the interview and told me that I would not be able to work for USPS at all. I got home and told my wife and her sister, who mentioned that to her husband. He told me that I should sue. But on there manual, on the back page it says that all employees are required to work on saturday, be it sorting mail, and other activities, etc., etc. So my BIL told me I shouldn't have said anything and than after being hired than tell them I didn't/wouldn't work on Sabbath. Personally to me that's lying or being down right deceitful, I told him I could not do that, maybe others could, but I couldn't and/or wouldn't. I can understand if applying for a job that doesn't say anything about working on a particular day, that might be a different story.

I definitely agree that the stewardess, if knowing that she would have to serve alcohol, took the job, than she should not have a leg to stand on!!

It is rather interesting that a judge in Oregon? refused to perform gay marriages and gave those asking a list in the area that did. He then stopped performing any wedding ceremonies. Unless it has been settled he is under a ethics investigation . A black lesbian judge in Texas refused to perform traditional wedding ceremonies because Texas did not recognize same sex marriages.

I think she has now resumed wedding ceremonies.No ethics investigation that I have found

Texas Judge Tonya Parker cannot legally marry a woman in her state, so she refuses to perform any marriage ceremonies until there is equality. She finds it "oxymoronic" to perform a ceremony that cannot be performed for her.

Parker, an openly gay judge, told a group at a Stonewall Democrats of Dallas meeting Tuesday that when she turns a couple away, she uses it as an opportunity to teach them a lesson about marriage equality.

Apparently part of her job is to teach 

"I don't perform marriage ceremonies because we are in a state that does not have marriage equality and until it does, I'm not going to partially apply the law to one group of people that doesn't apply to another group of people," Parker said in a video of the Tuesday discussion. "And it's kind of oxymoronic for me to perform ceremonies that can't be performed for me, so I'm not going to do it."

A spokeswoman for the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct said the commission had no comment.

Parker is the first LGBT person elected as a judge in Dallas County and she is believed to be the first openly LGBT African-American elected official in the state's history, according to the Dallas Voice.

Parker described examples of discrimination in the courtroom that she has seen and been able to stop.

She once heard a case involving a man who allegedly molested a young boy in which a participant used the terms "homosexual" and "child molester" interchangeably.

"When a man molests a little girl, people don't call him heterosexual," Parker said in the video. "So, when this man molests this little boy, assuming [the] allegations to be true, you are not going to stand in my courtroom and call him a homosexual."

Another example she gave was the Texas Supreme Court's jury instruction that dictates that jurors cannot discuss cases with their husbands or wives.

"Well, I might have modified it a little bit," Parker said to her audience. "And I said, 'Do not discuss this case with your husband, your wife or your partner.'"

She said these are small ways of making her point but she believes it is important to go out of her way to do things that others in the LGBT community might not be able to do because they are not in her position of power.

"I want to help those folks to have dignity, in that moment that they are with me, to know that I see you," she said. "I see you."

Parker wrote in an emailed statement that performing marriage ceremonies is not her duty as a judge, but, rather, "a right and privilege" that she chooses not to exercise.

"I do not, and would never, impede any person's right to get married," Parker wrote. "In fact, when people wander into my courtroom, usually while I am presiding over other matters, I direct them to the judges in the courthouse who do perform marriage ceremonies.

"I do this because I believe in the right of people to marry and pursue happiness," she wrote.

Parker has said in the video that her goal as a judge is to "make sure laws are applied equally to everyone who comes to court and that we take the opportunity to put issues on people's radar's that might not otherwise be there."

What on earth are you talking about? She is a black lesbian judge that refused to marry anyone. It was not a religious issue

This is a small airline.  and she was always requesting the only other attendent to do her job.  It ahould not be up to other employees to take over her duties. It is odd she has been a muslim for three years and only recently learned she shouldnt be handling booze. I would be surprised if she lost.
