I feel that sharing my name and photo is almost as bad as sharing other personal info such as birthday, place of birth, SSN, etc. Using a handle and avatar reduces the chance of turning up on someone's search engine, perhaps someone with no good intentions. I tend to use a fake birthday if one is needed to join a group, and avoid publishing any personal info in a social setting just to reduce the possibility of identity theft, which my name and photo might make easier.

Although I did share a photo of myself in a group setting here in CA, but it's not a great picture.

Just read this and couldn't agree more. I don't particularly have anything against using real names nor do I have anything to hide, but I personally don't want too, at least not at this current moment in time. For the reasons listed above and also, due to the fact that just by Googling a person name you can get a slew of information. I didn't even think of search engine results until you said this. But its true, I have no social media accounts of any kind yet I can find myself on the internet because others have posted my name or picture on Face Book, or the likes there of. This is what I don't like, the unintentional display of information to others. Thus, I have shortened my handle as the original contained part of my name. I work at a large organization, we have a team of people whose SOLE jobs are to search social media for employee posting negative comments concerning the company or posting pictures that aren't suppose to be shown. I'm getting off topic I feel, but yeah, it's amazing how much you can find on someone just by their name.

My name and picture is me ... granddaughter doesn't mind my sharing her picture.  A long time ago I made a decision not to hid behind an alias or fake picture.  It helps me to be more aware of what I say on the world-wide web ... as for privacy on the computer, it is not difficult for anyone with some computer skills to identify us so why try to hid behind the computer screen.

Since I've not any time recently felt anyone is or has been trying to hide themselves, I'm satisfied, the same when I'm walking down a crowded street, everyone I pass is doing and saying what they feel is best under their particular circumstances. I'm satisfied God meets people where they are and therefor expects the same from any of His followers.

Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].

It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such [a]as is inspired by God’s love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

And if I have prophetic powers ([b]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), and understand all the secret truths and mysteries and possess all knowledge, and if I have [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but have not love (God’s love in me) I am nothing (a useless nobody).....1 Corinthians 13

2....looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God..... Hebrews 12

11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life..... 1 John 5

And, your point being?

chuckles2.gif  Good terse but apt reply, Naomi.

LifeHC is an enigma for many viewers who are more or less expecting dialogue, anecdote, or some flash of inspirational comment. However I do like his emphasis on bible inspiration. Most often the uploaded message doesn't seem to fit the flow of the whole topic. No matter.... I'm glad he's a part of this Forum and faithful to his faith in God.

Now I know it is advised not to size up the motivation of whatever a person does because it would be judging. I can only say perhaps the drive in LHC is to evangelized us readers with printing out holy scripture. I believe he is 89 years old at present and not so good for walking door to door in evangelistic ministry service. Besides, he has been a bit hampered from doing full time gospel ministry service because of bed-caring his chronicly ill wife. I give him kudos for that, indeed.

Someone had made reference to those who might be trying to hide something behind the fact that they wouldn't put there picture or given name for public view on the forum. I was merely wanting to

make it plain there are some, including myself, who have no ulterior motive other than not being computer savvy enough to find it easy to install the picture, as well as being motivated by news items like this that make it more and more difficult to trust in my fellow human being.

BTW AKA,

Thank you for a positive note. I'm of the opinion, whether by my age or as a result of the sure Word, we have but little time on this earth to share the good news.

Please let me be clear, LHC has been on this forum quite a long time and in that time I have never, not, had respect for him and his comments.  Nor, in any way, have I had any concerns with him being a part of this forum or questioned his faith in God.  I have prayed for his wife when the request was made.

My post was in response to him making a post responding to me.  I merely made a statement of my personal concerns and beliefs, not a challenge to anyone else's reasons for their choices.

If I am allowed to make a personal statement of my beliefs: I  believe that if a person uses their name and picture (at least no aviator) that many will be more conscientious of what and how they contribute.  It is also my belief that if you have issues that you would not stand in the middle of a busy store and discuss it loudly perhaps you might want to consider not discussing it on the world wide web.

Well if i must use my pic as my avatar....

I will have to have a professional photographer and professional hair and manly make up and good lighting with a ultra  filtered lens.

Looking off dreamily sitting on a rainbow unicorn.

Or maybe one of my art pieces !!!

Leon, that was a very helpful warning about email-phishing dangers that you posted. Thanks a lot.

Personally, I tend to keep myself at a distance here on this Forum. Mostly because of the conflicts of the past hurting so many members causing so many good posters to wander off for more gentler communities. All in all a gender mixed Forum of so-called religious persons gets very aggressive at times. Having been in two different Forum places of exclusively ladies I tend to relax and trust more. The interaction is fun and informative.
