bonnie Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Ted Cruz ends his presidential campaign after crushing loss to Trump in Indiana Aol.com Editors May 3rd 2016 9:23PM Texas Sen. Ted Cruz announced on Tuesday night that he would no longer actively seek the Republican nomination for president. The decision to suspend his campaign came after a crushing loss in the Republican primary race in Indiana, a state Cruz had put considerable efforts into winning. "With a heavy heart, but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign," he said to supporters shortly after losing the race on Tuesday night. "But hear me now, I am not suspending our fight for liberty." Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said in a tweet shortly after Cruz's announcement that Trump would be presumptive Republican nominee and that the party should unite and focus on defeating Hillary Clinton. Cruz had been resilient in his effort to stop Donald Trump from becoming the Republican nominee in the days leading up to the primary. Last week he announced he would choose former rival Carly Fiorina as his vice presidential pick, were he to win the primary race, much earlier than most candidates typically name a running mate. Trump addressed Cruz's decision without directly referencing it in his victory speech Tuesday night, calling Cruz "one hell of a competitor." "He is got an amazing future, so I want to congratulate Ted," Trump said. See how supporters reacted to Cruz's announcement: SEE PHOTOS 10 PHOTOS The first hopeful to enter the 2016 race for the White House, Cruz championed his strong Christian values throughout his campaign and vowed to protect the Constitution if elected. Last month his campaign agreed to a "Stop Trump" alliance with Ohio Governor John Kasich's team. The plan involved Kasich dropping campaign efforts in Indiana to help Cruz win delegates, while Cruz vowed to return the favor in Oregon and New Mexico. Trump's delegate count stands at 1,041 after Tuesday night's results. Cruz has 565 and Kasich has 153. A Republican candidate would need 1,237 in order to become the party's nominee. bonnie Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 So much for all the jeers and ridicule. Looks as if Trump will be the nominee. Probably Clinton for the dems. bonnie Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 If I remember correctly you also stated that by the 4th or 5th primary he would be done. Many disagree with you. As objectionable as he is,he is no worse than Clinton Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Moderators Bravus Posted May 5, 2016 Moderators Posted May 5, 2016 Yes, I'm very happy to own up to being completely wrong about Trump and dropping out. I admit it, I understimated his appeal. (I was right about Carson, though: he was gone even sooner than I predicted. ;)) I could be wrong about whether he can win the election, too. I'm not saying it out of wishful thinking, though, but out of the calculus of the electoral college. If Hillary carries the 19 states that Democrats have won in every election since 1922, plus Florida, she is at 270 electoral college votes and it's all over bar the shouting. I have deep concerns about Hillary as president: her hawkishness, views on Israel, views on trade deals, ties to Wall Street. Plenty of issues. I'm not saying she'll be president because I want her to be, I'm saying it because much smarter people than me who are much more immersed in the US system and how it functions think it's the most probable outcome by a considerable distance. bonnie Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 Same song same verse and we ended up with Jessie the clown. The dems are actually the ones that put him over the top. Not so much because they thought he was so great or really reflected their views but against the others running for office. The media piled on,the powers that be did what they could to make him irrelevant and a joke, every word he said was twisted and distorted. He said enough obnoxious, arrogant, rude in your face comments that should have stood on their own. Sound familiar? Right up to election night there was no way he could win. A lot of people will vote Trump as a protest to Clinton in the whitehouse. The reverse is true as well. If I vote and that is debatable I would vote for a potted plant over Clinton. So that would leave Trump. I believe you should vote but ....... Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. bonnie Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 More and more I am surprised at the strong feelings many women have against Hillary Clinton. One of the business forums I frequent has a couple thousand members. Not like C/A where the majority are silent, most of them are active.Over the last couple of years the shift from Obama and by extension Clinton is dramatic., Most got creamed by Obamacare and are still waiting for these wonderful savings and it is making them angrier and angrier. Many women are remembering her deliberate lies and blaming a vast right wing conspiracy while trashing the women Bill Clinton preyed on as she claims to be a champion of women. Bill Clinton's behavior was well known from Ark. to Washington DC. She knew what a sexual predator he was as governor yet went on national TV like the doting, naive little housewife and lied about others. Never a retraction. The latest is having their daughters, many that attend swim meets/practice and other activities, knowing that men can now join them. As narrow minded as these people are they can't quite accept that. Military families have not forgotten Benghazi or the misdirection(lies) blaming a video while their loved ones were slaughtered Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted May 5, 2016 Members Posted May 5, 2016 unless either Trump or Clinton comes up with a good reason why I should vote for him or her, I think I'll be choosing a "write-in" candidate on the general election ballot... (really won't make any difference here in Oregon — the State will go to the Democratic candidate) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Aliensanctuary Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I think Cruz would have made a decent president who knows cr*p when he sees it. The only way to get rid of cr*p is to kick it out of your way, even though some people really like their cr*p. Personally, I enjoyed seeing Cruz poking fun at the stuff coming out of Trump the Donkey's mouth. Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451
