Just when you thought things were getting a bit dull - http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-taxes.html?mwrsm=Facebook&_r=0

I bet all those good folk who lost their houses in the upside down market wish they could do what Donald was able to do to zero out their Federal income tax for even a few years!

Let's see how this one plays out...

And now let's look back at his tweets about others not paying their fair share of taxes - https://thinkprogress.org/7-tweets-by-trump-about-taxes-that-are-very-awkward-now-75b500ea4f45#.jcef0lfw7

It once agains confirms what I have been saying for awhile now.  Listen carefully to whatever Trump accuses someone else of doing.  That is where the media needs to focus their investigative efforts about him.  Because whatever he accuses anyone else of, is what is is all the more guilty of doing.

It will be interesting to see just how desperate and silly Clinton asylum boarders will get.

There is "it could "It might". If anyone here says they don't take every legitimate deductions possible to minimize tax payment ,I don't believe you. The bigger business the more to legally to deduct,

When some proof from the IRS is given that something is deliberately illegal then it will explain the situation quite well.

I don't know what he has done with his taxes but neither do you.It is rather stupid I believe on his part to drag this out .

I found the article interesting tho

What they know is it could or it would or ...

Then they acknowledge what they don't know.

Funny most Trump supporters or those that may choose Trump over Hillary because there isn't any other choice say or think the same about Hillary Clinton. That is what makes it a tough choice

This is not about whether it is illegal or not.  What appears to be the case is that it was indeed quite legal.  But it goes very much in the face of his assertions that he pays Federal income taxes.  And gets on others for doing legally  to a much lesser degree than he does.  Then there is the reality of his tremendous business acumen that somehow results in nearly a billion dollar loss in one year.  Is he really all that smart as a businessman or a tax whiz?  No.  Not really.

I don't know what he has paid in taxes. As for his business acumen I believe he lives quite well. Still in business.  I know several very wealthy contractors that have gone in the tank for millions one year and a year or two later are waaay on top. Not a very compelling argument

Is 4 or 6 business bankruptcies for Trump?  We are not talking about a million here or there.  He has gone in the tank leaving creditors and contractors holding the bag in the 100's of millions.  And the loss he reported in 1995 was almost a billion dollars! His companies at the time were reportedly worth around 2 billion.  So a loss of half the value of his business at that level is substantial.  The casino fiascos were "yuge" losses.  He has had as many or more business failures as successes.  Some have calculated that if he had just taken the money he got from his daddy and invested it in the stock market, rather than trying to use it to build his own business empire, he would now be at least as well off, or even richer.  That really says that his business acumen really hasn't been all that great.

Is this election based on his business acumen? What is your desperation to prove he is a bad business man?

Trump himself claims his business acumen makes him the perfect candidate to run the country. He has lambastedother political  opponents over their tax/business plans for running the country.
So.....it is not desperation to prove he is a bad business person. Do you care? Do you think he has the ability to run the coun try business wise, or just more of us everyday working schmucks going to pay for his lack of fiscal resposibilty or just plain tax evasion? Yes, for those that don't appartently understand that running the country is a business and requires coherence, it is important!!

Obama was a community organizer. Many businesses would tell you today at best he is a lousy business man and does not understand business.Bernie Sanders never held a paying job until he joined politics. Yet there are those here that did support him.

Candidates make all sorts of claims.I don't think being a clever business man is the main reason many will vote for him

This gives more analysis. Understanding that much of that 916 million is likely paper losses and not really direct asset/cash losses really paints a picture of how lopsided the tax system really is. And despite his claim to be the one to "fix" it, note the facts that his tax proposal does nothing adverse to his interests. In fact it will actually make it even better for him.

As far as I know Trump didn't write the tax laws. The existing tax laws have very little to do with my objections to either one.

I expect everyone, you included uses every deduction available to you.

None of this makes Hillary Clinton look any better. I firmly believe she was and is a liar among other things.

I really do find it interesting that Obama absolutely agreed with those that believe her to be a liar. He said she was a liar and would say anything.

Now either our transparent president was willing to lie and trash the reputation of his opponent  a woman no less or he was telling the truth. Which is it?

WE are all free to vote how we choose or not at all. In my decision I cannot dismiss and whitewash the behavior of one.

You seem to be able to.. Possibly that makes me one as described in the articles you posted. I am sure you think so and that is okay,my decisions are not based on "trust or belief" in you.

I agree, completely! And that is really scary/sad for the country. His rhetoric has loosed the worst in many, many people of this country. In particular those who blame all the ills, issues, racism, etc on someone else. Those that take no responsibility for their own actions, thoughts and ideas. I have heard you strongly condemning those types of attitudes and yet that is what Trump does for himself even encouraging others to think the same way.

And here we are being encouraged to think as Hillary Clinton. Tell me,if i were to base my vote on a candidate in the election that didn't blame everyone else which should I pick. Both excel in that. Hillary has the edge in that as she has been doing it longer and does it better at least politically.

The "yuge" loss he reported in 1995 appears to likely have been a combination of the bankruptcies of his airline venture, the Plaza Hotel, and the Atlantic City casinos.  The largest part of that would have been the casinos. Just let that sink in. Casinos are typically designed to be huge money makers, the only losers being the gamblers, odds always overwhelmingly in favor of the house. The gambling usually brings in so much of the revenue the hotel and restaurants are often priced as loss leaders and designed just to accommodate gamblers and keep them in the casino gambling.

Yet this supposedly brilliant businessman, who is running on the claim that that really super qualifies him to be president, couldn't even make a success out of his casinos!  Not even with mob help.   Yes, there is strong evidence of his business deals with known mobsters on those casino properties.  It was so much so that the NJ gaming authority apparently delayed his casino license because of it.

Certainly paints a rather bleak picture of his claimed tremendous business acumen.  Not a genius...  not even close.  The only one that made money on his spectacularly losing effort was Donald.

And then there is this - https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2016/10/04/the-morning-joe-set-says-the-trump-tax-bombshell-is-no-big-deal-theyre-very-very-wrong/?tid=hybrid_collaborative_1_na&utm_term=.7a36bbdd3705

This special tax provision was used by about 500,000 people in 1995.  The average claimed loss was $97,600.  Trumps claimed loss in that year was almost 10,000 times greater than the average!  He is a "yuge" loser! YUGE!!   That isn't a sign of being a genius businessman.

Wanderer,

What you and others don't seem to grasp is those that support Trump over someone they see as worse or as same do not see success or integrity concerning Clinton either.

I know that there isn't any possibility in the eyes of a Clinton supporter that there is any truth to any negative report of Clinton. But again, others are as entitled to their opinion and it has as much value as that of the enlightened Clinton supporters.

A big issue seems to be he is a bad business man or how he used the tax code to his advantage.  A lot of people are just as concerned over a Secretary of State that didn't know about the ramifications of her e-mail server. More troubling is a Secretary of State that doesn't remember 2-3 dozen security briefings.  Or that a large part of 6 Billion dollars goes missing under Clinton, again,no records or paper trail. No cash,no documents no paper trail required by law

That is more disturbing to a lot of people than Trump being a poor business man and using the tax code to his benefit. Which of course so did Hillary Clinton. Not to the same amount but clearly a willingness to use the tax code for her benefit. It seems there are some that dismiss it as it was only once. I don't believe anyone that claims the circumstances were there to do so more than once and she suddenly had a "come  to Jesus" meeting and decided not to.

Could the former Secretary of State be using the cash to fund an upcoming presidential campaign? In all, $6 billion are missing and it’s highly unlikely any of the money will ever be recovered. The cash was supposed to be used to pay contractors but it just disappeared and documents that could help track the dough cannot be located. How convenient! The paper trail, which federal law says must be

State Department from 2008 to 2014?
According to a report by the Inspector General, Clinton simply lost the $6 billion through "improper filings."
The State Department misplaced and lost some $6 billion due to the improper filing of contracts during the past six years, mainly during the tenure of former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, according to a newly released Inspector General report.
The $6 billion in unaccounted funds poses a “significant financial risk and demonstrates a lack of internal control over the Department’s contract actions,” according to the report.
The alert, originally sent on March 20 and just released this week, warns that the missing contracting funds “could expose the department to substantial financial losses.”
The report centered on State Department contracts worth “more than $6 billion in which contract files were incomplete or could not be located at all,” according to the alert.
“The failure to maintain contract files adequately creates significant financial risk and demonstrates a lack of internal control over the Department’s contract actions,” the alert states.
The situation “creates conditions conducive to fraud, as corrupt individuals may attempt to conceal evidence of illicit behavior by omitting key documents from the contract file,” the report concluded.
A further audit of the department’s Bureau of African Affairs found that administrators “were unable to provide complete contract administration files for any of the eight contracts that were reviewed.”  Those contracts were worth $34.8 million.

Wandered,

Trump had all sorts of flack over building a wall on the border. What a racist.  Clintons mouth ran with the best of them.

Tell me which Clinton I should choose. When do I believe this woman when she attacks others for being a racist and bigot?

Hillary LOves and supports Obamacare, did prior to it passing and then OOPS. I realize this is Honest Bill campaigning for her but I don't think the chance of his going against what his wife truly believes is to great

Just a couple months ago, Hillary Clinton was talking about the awesomeness of Obamacare and how she’s looking forward to making the law even more all-encompassing:
null

Hillary’s even reminded everybody that she thought of Obamacare first:
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton is out with a new defense of her healthcare record — rival Bernie Sanders may have helped write ObamaCare, but it was her idea first.
“It was called HillaryCare before it was called ObamaCare,” Clinton told a crowd of supporters at a country club in Vinton, Iowa. “I don’t want to start over.”
Fast forward the tape to yesterday, and Bill Clinton’s helpful reminder to small business owners and the middle class NOT to vote for his wife:
Speaking Monday at a Democratic rally in Flint, Michigan, the former president ripped into the Affordable Care Act for flooding the health care insurance market and causing premiums to rise for middle-class Americans who do not qualify for subsidies.
“So you’ve got this crazy system where all of a sudden 25 million more people have health care and then the people who are out there busting it, sometimes 60 hours a week, wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half. It’s the craziest thing in the world,” Clinton said.
[…]
“On the other hand, the current system works fine if you’re eligible for Medicaid, if you’re a lower-income working person; if you’re already on Medicare, or if you get enough subsidies on a modest income that you can afford your health care,” Clinton said.
“But the people that are getting killed in this deal are small business people and individuals who make just a little too much to get any of these subsidies.”

Others are being told disgusting behavior by Clinton is nothing ,people are lying, or she was just this poor victimized wife valiantly protecting her husband.

Again the same rules don't apply. Hillary Clinton goes back 20 years and attacks on a partial negative story. Sure showed how little he valued women. Going back on Clinton 20 years is a "Oh well". Her unnecessary brutal attack on women her husband preyed on is almost seen as a virtue keeping her marriage together. If I care about Trump's disgusting behavior, then I find hers just as disgusting. Especially going back a few years when she referred to special needs children as &*#@ retards.

Tom  seemed to find fault with  the fact that Trump settled lawsuits with a confidentiality agreement . It would be interesting to hear why.

Trump takes the fifth several times concerning  infidelity .  Really bad HUH?  Bill Clinton lies to congress about inappropriate sexual behavior by a sitting president ,Hillary lies twice about infidelity concerning her wandering husband very publically and what really is the big deal? What did that have to do with the presidency? What does Trump's infidelity have to do with the presidency?

Just a few reasons why those that support Trump or may in the end vote for him take into account when trying to sort thru the dishonesty and duplicity
