Doss NOT the Only CO to Recieve the MOH

Seventh-day Adventist myth often has presented Desmond Doss as the only conscientious objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor.  This is simply false.

According to official U.S. Selective Service records two (2) other conscientious objectors also were awarded the Medal of Honor.

Actually Gregory, I've never heard that Doss was the only MOH recipient. What I've heard was that he was the only SDA awarded the MOH! Its very possible that I missed hearing or reading that?

Yesterday an official publication of the denomination published a statement that Doss was the only CO to be awarded the MOH.

That was a myth that was often expressed in Adventism for several decades after Doss received the MOH.  Of course, it was true at one time.  But, the myth continued long after it was no longer true.

I have personally fought this myth for many years.  In recent times, it has died down. But with the advent of Hacksaw Ridge it has come to the surface again.
