Gender- A Divine Assignment

Gender

A Matter of Divine Assignment

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:27

Gender is a fact, not an opinion!  It is of a great offense to the Creator to reject the gift of gender bestowed by the divine giver. What He graciously imparts should be gratefully embraced as His wise providence. Do not live as one of a gender other tan that which was determined at you conception. Do not mutilate or manipulate the features of the gender that was apparent at your birth. No matter how hard you may lust after possessing a different gender than that which God has assigned you will forever be just what you have always been. No kind of procedure, amount of surgery or hormonal manipulation will change you to what your unholy desire longs to make of yourself. Your X or Y chromosomes cannot be changed. Before God and all who reverence Him you will yet be the gender conferred upon you by heaven. No matter how many social or legal sanctions you may impose on those of faith or society, if you were born male you shall always be male and if you were female you shall forever remain female. Acceptance of the fact and the rendering of thankfulness to your Creator is the only way out of your gender disorientation and discontent.

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. -Romans 1:21-32

The above topic neglects current understanding of genetics.

1)  Males are generally considered to have a XY configuration.

2) Females are generally considered to have a XX configuration.

3)  Some are conceived with a XXY Configuration.

4)  Some are conceived with an XYY Configuration.

5)  Some adults actually have both an XX and a XY configuration.    E.G.  some of their organs are XX and other organs are XY.  This has been confirmed by forensic science.  It is believed to happen when two eggs are fertilized by two sperm, one of which carries an X chromosome and the other a Y chromosome.  These two fertilized eggs then unite in a manner that results in a  live birth in which some organs have a XX configuration and some organs have a XY configuration.

NOTE:  While I have listed the most common known configurations, the list above does not include all of the combinations that may exist.

The following list will provide more information on this subject:

NOTE:  Phenotype is determined by the genetic composition of  the X & Y chromosomes.  The Y chromosome contains 60 or less genes, depending on who you read.  The X chromosome contains about 1,100 chromosomes.  The SRY Gene, normally located on the top of the Y chromosome has a major influence on the phenotype.  But, it can be located  elsewhere.

Be thankful you live in a world where everything is perfect, and nothing is broken.

Maybe.  But my thoughts on this, as a biologist, not a researcher, nor a psychologist, would follow along the following lines.

If it is the case that gender is a "fact," it just may be that only God knows for certain ones which gender they are.  He is the only One wise enough, and with a sword sharp enough, to divide between the bone and marrow, and to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.

If we consider that the external genitalia connect to the body's most important organ, the brain, via the nervous system, and then recognize that the master organ controlling the hormones of the body is also located in the center of the brain, it is not a difficult conclusion to realize that the brain is the most significant determinant of gender.  I do not mean to say that one can think himself or herself through a metamorphosis that would transition himself or herself to a different gender.  It is not the conscious thoughts which dictate gender.  It is the general build of the brain (male and female brains differ significantly) and its hormonal signature that consequently feed the natural carnal attractions.

All men have the plumbing to nurse children.  They simply lack the hormones that would cause that plumbing to develop during puberty, and to initiate lactation.  Certain aspects of the external genitalia are similarly paralleled between genders.  While an uncommon occurrence (some estimate one in 2000 babies), some are born with genital ambiguity.  Neither doctors nor parents can perfectly predict which gender the baby's brain will gravitate toward, though it is supposed that doctors are getting better at this.  Most recommend that the child be allowed to grow and develop awhile to see of which nature s/he is, but some parents, perhaps at their doctors' behest, will choose gender assignment surgery and/or hormone therapy for one gender or the other--parents' choice.  If God has assigned the gender, and then the parents have selected incorrectly, is the child to blame?

These are tough questions.  It is pointless to make one's stance overly strong, for exceptions, while rare, do exist.  And we ought to know better than to second-guess God on the matter.  Leave these things for His judgment.

One condition which has not been directly mentioned is that which used to be called testicular feminisation.....the person is by genotype XY but

appears female because the cell receptors which respond to testosterone are non functional.   Hence the individual appears as a  girl but the

normal markers of sexual maturation do not appear.   Atrophic testes are present within the body and must be removed because they have an

increased tendency to become cancerous.   Such a person if tested for genotype would be male but to all other appearances,  is female.

Just another instance of the problems inherent in dogmatic statements about gender.
