Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted February 8, 2018 Moderators Posted February 8, 2018 The Northern California Conference sends an e-mail message to its friends and members each Thursday mornings entitled The Word On The Street. This morning, that e-mail contained the message that I have quoted below: I strongly suspect that the message is in error and that the woman was actually commissioned. I have contacted the Conference and asked them to clarify. I will post the answer after I receive it. In the mean time, I will lock this thread as I think it is in error. ] On Sabbath, Jan. 27, Chaplain Loretta Belton was ordained to the gospel ministry. Loretta has been serving at Adventist Health St. Helena. Participating in the service from the NCC office were Marc Woodson, Jim Lorenz, and Willie Johnson. Quote Gregory
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted February 8, 2018 Author Moderators Posted February 8, 2018 I am informed that she was ordained. Quote Gregory
Outta Here Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Is this the first time a woman has been ordained as a minister? (I'm not up on all the current happenings. To me, it's a moot point, but that's only my opinion--nothing else.) Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted February 8, 2018 Author Moderators Posted February 8, 2018 It is probably the first time that the Northern California Conference has ever ordained a female to the gospel ministry. The NCC is considered to be a conservative Conference. It is not considered to be liberal as is the SECC. In any case, this is the first time that the NCC has ordained a female to the gospel ministry in recent times since this has been a point of discussion in Adventism. I consider this to be a major event. Kevin H 1 Quote Gregory

That's not what I've been given to understand... But, either way, good on them... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted February 9, 2018 Author Moderators Posted February 9, 2018 I have checked with others and perhaps it would be better to say that the NCC administration is considered to be Moderate with both liberal and conservative elements in its congregations.
