The medieval castle dates to 1180, and once served as the residence of the Counts of Flanders. 🍺 Ward also points to a favorite bit of local lore: In 1949, students occupied the empty castle in protest of a new beer tax, staying overnight before the standoff ended peacefully the next morning.
