Hanseng Posted Saturday at 12:14 PM Posted Saturday at 12:14 PM "Glendale City is a Christian church affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist denomination (www.adventist.org) Our congregation was one of the first Adventist churches established in this part of Southern California. While we continue to partner with this denomination, we are in a posture of protest against the unjust actions taken by our General Conference that attempt to undermine the contextualized work of the Adventist churches and centers of education in the Western United States. We are in solidarity with the actions of our Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (www.puconline.org) that: • Ordain both women and men as clergy • Protect the right of Adventist centers of education to teach current science to its students while honoring God as Creator • Stand with congregations that welcome and include our LGBTQ loved ones in their faith communities." Asia Joe Posted Saturday at 02:26 PM Posted Saturday at 02:26 PM This is not new. These statements go back to at least 2019. https://web.archive.org/web/20190212174634/https://glendalecitychurch.org/about-us Quote Christian church affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist denomination (www.adventist.org) I am not sure how they are affiliated. Gustave Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Who pays the salaries of the SDA Pastors who work at the Glendale City Church? The quoted statement claims that Church is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Denomination. The statement goes on to claim that Glendale City Church agrees with the positions of the "Pacific Union Conference" that supposedly affirm & welcome LGBT, ordination of female clergy. I was unaware that historic SDA's disagreed with their universities teaching modern science??? Quote
Gustave Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Another question I just thought of is who makes and provides the Sabbath lesson that SDA's read? Is the Sabbath lesson study provided by the union conference of whatever area the church is under or is it provided by the General Conference? Quote
Asia Joe Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago GC. Sometimes it is funny to read the quarterly in a third world country. Sometimes I have to explain a story or authors expressions. Quote As a father was driving, his son scanned the cars passing by in order to spot those that were the same as his dad’s. The father then pointed to a car and exclaimed, “Son, that was the same as my first car!” When they got home, the father pulled out the owner’s manual to his first car, along with the manual to the current car. He carefully showed his son the features of each vehicle, highlighting things that were alike and what had been changed. However, when the father compared the two engines, everything was identical. Much had changed, but not the engine. Lesson 4 In the third world, they just marvel at this. "The same as my first car" They don't even dream of a car. They ride public transportation or a scooter.
