Moderators Kevin H Posted yesterday at 05:59 AM Moderators Posted yesterday at 05:59 AM Obituary for Les E. Stewart Les E. Stewart of Butternuts, NY passed away on October 29, 2026. He was born to Lydia M. Hellerud on October 1, 1964. His mother said that in giving birth that she dreamt about eagles and thus Les was always associated with an eagle. Les was also the grandson of Dagny E. Hellerud who, with Lydia, raised him in a bilingual English-Norwegian home in Masonville, NY. Leslie was a 1982 graduate of Bainbridge-Guilford Central School. He also attended Atlantic Union College, South Lancaster MA, and Broome Community College, Binghamton NY for his Associates degree. Les started Stewart Construction doing much of the work in refurbishing store locations in the Oneonta Mall, and to prepare homes for handicapped people with Springbrook, among other projects in the Oneonta and Norwich area. often working with his friend Tom Fisher. Les was also a landlord for residents in Norwich and Oneonta, Les was preceded in death by his Grandmother Dagny E. Hellerud and his Mother Lydia M. Hellerud. He is survived by brother Kevin Neidhardt Hellerud, sisters Lori E, Stewart and Dagny A. Brown, aunts and uncle, several cousins, a niece and nephews phkrause 1 Quote
