I been tired and not felt like doing much. I have a CT scan tomoorow and an appointment with a ENT DR Wednesday. Please pray they we can figure out why my cold alway end up as sinus infection and that we can come up with a treatment that will work so I don't get so sick. Administrators Gail Posted March 12, 2007 Administrators Posted March 12, 2007 We have missed you, Barbara! I hope that they find out the source of your infections and can clear them up so that you will be feeling better soon! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Barbara Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 The Ent Dr says I need to have surgery to fix my sinus problem. He says that some of the left sinus areas are blocked and I could see on the CT where the problems were. Here is the name of the surgery I need. Left Ethmoidectomy, Left Natural Antrumostomy with Maxillry debridement. Surgery is planed for on the 10 of April. I'll have to miss a week of work. Which isn't good. But with things that Paul and I are thinking about it is better to get it done now then wait Quote .....Love others as well as you love yourself. Matt 22:39 (The Message Bible)
Administrators Gail Posted March 14, 2007 Administrators Posted March 14, 2007 Yikes!! Barbara, I sure hope that this does the trick for you! Please keep us posted! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Robert Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 I hope it works for you too, but a guy at work has had that surgery twice now. You might have allergies, especially with certain foods. That can cause sinus infection. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 What are your symptoms of sinus infection? Do you have severe pressure on top of your head and in through your cheeks? I have just started antibiotics last night, but have no relief yet! I also have a burning sensation through the top of my head. All of the doctors ensure me that this is normal, but I am slightly freaked out. Just wondering if you ever experience these same sensations. Thanks Quote
Morning Glory Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Hi Anon, I consider myself somewhat an expert on sinus infections.....I have had MANY of them in my lifetime and 3 or 4 surgeries ( I forget, now ). However, I have never experienced a burning sensation on the TOP of my head. The pressure in my face, around the eyes, behind the eyes, forehead area, temple areas. It really hurts to bend over due to the sinus pressure/ extra fluid. I would give it a few more days on the antibiotics to see if your symptoms begin to ease, and I would bet that they will. These things are never fun!! Be sure to take tylenol or aspirin or advil to help with the pain. You might even want to try some over the counter Musinex as that will help to liquify those secretions in your sinuses which will help to decrease that awful pressure sensation. AND be sure to drink plenty of fluids as that will also help. Good luck, and do get well soon. Morning Glory Quote Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life.
Guest Anonymous Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Well thank you so much for the reply. I have never had one this bad so I was slightly worried about all of the symptoms and pains that have come along with it. It is a pressure sensation just above my forehead (about 2 inches from the top of my forehead) with a somewhat tingly/burning feeling. When I went to the doctor, he said that was normal, so who knows. I think that it got so bad b/c I have been to different doctors for the past 3 weeks and they kept on telling me it was just a virus and that it would clear up on it's own. Apparently it didn't. HA HA I will give it a few more days and see what happens. I am also steaming like crazy! I think the skin on my face is dried out to the point of flaking off. ha ha But the pressure is driving me crazy! I just want relief already! Were the surgeries painful? Isn't there anything that they can do for you to get rid of the sinus problems? Thanks again. LLW Quote
Morning Glory Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Yes, the surgeries would have been VERY painful if I hadn't had anesthesia!! Just playing w/ you! Seriously, I was on narcotics for a couple of weeks after the surgeries, so that helped. I also took musinex, and did sinus irrigations. The irrigations helped a lot, and I really should start them again, but I digress. By the time I had my last surgery, there had been so much research done and improvements on treatments, my doc actually injected a liquid antibiotic directly into my sinuses. That didn't hurt at all!! I had about 4 treatment on a weekly basis, and that cleared it up!! The blood/cell barrier is really quite impenitrable in the sinus area, so it is difficult for the oral antibiotics to be as effective as one would like. One reason sinus infections are so difficult to treat. We figured out that my infections were caused by a combination of factors including allergies. So, I am on a maintenance program of Zyrtec daily and musinex daily. It has helped tremendously in keeping me well. For you, I would recommend: Musinex, Tylenol or equilivant, Saline nasal spray, and drink plenty of water. Listen to your body and get lots of rest, too. I am serious, the musinex will help relieve that pressure!! Snuggle down, and get well soon!! Morning Glory Quote Kindness is the oil that takes the friction out of life.
Taylor Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 I used to get sinus infections quite a bit, but haven't had any in years. Sorry I can't tell you what changed but I am grateful . Anyway, I used to take a very moist wash cloth, and zap it in the microwave for a few seconds to get it steamy hot and fold it in half and drape it across my nose and cheek bones area under my eyes. As soon as it would begin to cool off I would repeat the process for a total of about 15 minutes several times a day. That really aleviated the pressure. Quote

For your sinus infection, you might try: eucalyptus essential oil lavender essential oil peppermint essential oil tea tree essential oil Use several drops of each in 2 Tablespoons base oil like aloe vera or other oil. Rub it into the areas of your sinuses (forehead and upper cheek area and upper nasal areas. There are other sinuses too, but are located in unreachable areas, such as the ethmoids and sphenoid sinuses.) And just fyi, a headache can sometimes be relieved by placing a drop or two of peppermint oil on the top of the head, right on the scalp... Guest Anonymous Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Wow, thank you all for your advice for this annoying sinus infection! I wish that i could try them all. I just hope that I NEVER get one again! The pressure is enough to drive someone insane!!! I was so annoyed with it that I finally went to the hospital last Saturday evening and told the doctor that i thought that I had a brain tumor. I just wanted them to do something for me! If these remedies helped all of you out there, I am sure one of them will help me!!! Thanks Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 So, I am now on my third day of the antibiotics and not really any improvement. It does say right on the sheet that it takes several days for the medicine to start working. I sure hope it starts soon. I am taking an antibiotic with a certain acid in it used to attack ear and sinus bacteria. Apprently they are the two hardest to kill. After I took the pill this morning, I could feel a soft burning throughout my sinuses. I am hoping that this was the pill killing the bacteria! Keep your fingers crossed for me. I shall keep you all posted. :) Quote

Guest Anonymous Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 This is not Barbara. My name is Lindsay. I am STILL fighting off this darn infection though. The salt water irrigation has actualyl helped. I have already been on and finished my course of antibiotics with really no relief, so I had to start trying other alternatives. Quote
Administrators Gail Posted January 7, 2008 Administrators Posted January 7, 2008 I do the saline solution irrigation for my allergies and it makes a big difference for me I was amazed Google "neti pot" Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
