From a word to a related word, changing only one letter at a time, within the one post:

bird

bard

card

care

cage

(Nan's example) Fewer moves is better.

(OK, the 'related' is a bit of a stretch, but some would argue that it's our minds that cause us to perceive time)

Yes it can be fun, I cannot recall any others to mind at the moment so will have to put on the thinking cap for something original, which may take a long time.....so will enjoy the contributions of others for a while!

But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor. 12:9.

Nice work - you could probably take off 'wink' from the beginning and have your first and last words be 'sink' and 'Nile' so that they're related, if you want to, but very nice.

Realised a moment later (in the loo but don't tell anyone) that 'rick' is a fairly unusual word for a mode of hay storage and 'rill' a not particularly commonly used one for a tiny stream, so there's an alternative path with commoner words:

rock

rack

race

rice

rile

role

roll

Very nice indeed, Chrys... though I think I prefer it the other way around. Cool how the progression includes grips and gripe...
